Next 6 opponents....

are a total of 27-2 !! (yes, I know I am leaving off Minny). And the 2 losses are to the other undefeated teams on our schedule.

Yeah, that is a little daunting to look at but before the Penn St. game you could have said our next seven have only three losses among them and one of those was to #1 Alabama. We did OK against Penn St. I guess what I'm getting at is I like the fact that we have good teams on the schedule and ought to do pretty well against them. That's the definition of a top team.

It's a little misleading because it's only been 5 weeks now. The first 4 weeks consisted of teams crushing mostly inferior non-con opponents (unless you were Minnesota). All our opponents (again, ignoring the Goofs) went undefeated in non-conference play...but that's really not that surprising.

In our remaining schedule, for me it breaks down like this...

  1. Michigan: Worried because they have a high-powered offense (and the current Heisman trophy front-runner). Not worried because their offense hasn't yet played a good defense, and because their own defense isn't very good.
  2. Wisconsin: Worried because they have a strong running game, a good OL, decent pass game and are pretty good on defense. Not worried because they were utterly underwhelming in all their games except against Austin Peay.
  3. Michigan State: Worried because like Wisconsin, they're a balanced team. Not worried because... N/A. This game worries me the most.
  4. Indiana: Worried because their pass offense is really good. Not worried because they have presumably a worse defense than Michigan's, and are wholly one-dimensional on offense.
  5. Northwestern: Worried because it's ******* Northwestern, and they always find a way to beat us. Not worried because they've pulled off close wins against inferior opponents, and I think our guys are going to be really revved up for this one (revenge and all).
  6. Ohio State: Worried because they're the guys to beat, and because they aren't easy to beat. Not worried because, for whatever reason, they don't come off as the juggernauts I always thought they were.
