New Scoreboards

Why do we want video on the seats? Is this in case ticket sales drop, and the University can show us video of fans to make the stadium look full?

put it on the north endzone, so the south endzone can see without cranking their necks, the one on the south is fine to stay :)

I didn't read the article, but we can be assured we won't spend a lot of $ on burnt out light bulbs.

It seems that state of the art is hard to sustain. Here I thought the new scoreboad from last decate was top notch. But others have gotten bigger and so should Iowa. I was sad to see that that "new" scorboard installed last time quickly shrunk as they sold advertizing around the perimiter.

We can spend $8 on scoreboards?

Seems like we could afford $22 million for other expenses...

The south end zone "jumbotron" was too small the day it was installed. I can't wait for an upgrade. And the sound system definitely needed an upgrade.

Video Boards $4.5Million
Structural Support $1.3Million
Installation Sound Equipment, etc. not to exceed $2.2Million

It also sounds like Carver will reap the benefits of this:

The existing video walls and mechanical advertising panels were installed in the summer of 2005 during the first phase of the renovation of Kinnick Stadium. The control room equipment is also eight years old and was installed with the existing scoreboard/video walls. To utilize the full potential of the new scoreboard and video walls, some new equipment needs to be purchased. The new equipment in the control room will allow “HawkVision” to create an enhanced game-day experience for the Kinnick Stadium fans (and Carver-Hawkeye Arena, since the same equipment runs both venues). The equipment will allow the cameras on the field and in the seating bowl to showcase replays, crowd shots, crowd/advertising engagements and create a new game-day experience. (The new video walls are “HD” and the equipment to run them must be in the same format and requires the University to purchase new equipment that is in the HD format.)

I hope they don't fix the sound system..I really enjoy having my eardrums blown out every home game and yelling "WHAT?!?" the rest of the day..
