New ranking? #4 'Nova just beaten

We all know what happened two years ago at about this stage in the season. This was about where we were before we had a tire blow out. That was very dissapointing, but the chemistry on this team is much better and the seniority leadership should make a difference. I will be happy if Iowa just continues to get better and better and stronger and stronger. The key is to get to the NCAA tournament and kill it there.

Yes it's a fun aspect of college basketball to speculate how your team does in the polls and it can aid in recruiting. One game at a time just like in football. In the B1G no team can be over looked. We looked a little flat against Rutgers but we pulled through anyway. One B1G domino left to fall against Maryland, beat them and the momentum will be significant.

The announcers today acknowledged the ease of Indiana's schedule compared to ours. I suspect we could climb to number three or four this week. The Maryland game is going to be huge to either team. The winner we get major recognition. Go HAWKS!!!!

At worst we should be #4 but #3 would make the most sense. Only UNC and Oklahoma will remain above us in my opinion.

Rooting for Iowa State to beat Kansas is gonna be weird.

I will NOT be rooting for the Clowns! I hope KU pounds them and lose a couple games later. Then the Hawks can jump them, if they are still on a roll.

We need Kansas to lose as many games as possible. The last thing we want is to be a number 1 seed and get effed out of Des Moines by Kansas.

It's a curse when you're not Iowa, or it's a curse because these top teams keep ending up playing good teams on the road after they get a high ranking.

Yeah, if it DIRECTLY impacted Iowa like that, I guess I'd have to hope ISU wins. Man, that just seems so hard though!!

I don't think there's anything that says you can't have two 1 seeds at the same location.

Iowa may have had the toughest schedule and are undefeated in perhaps best conference. Oh...and won 6 of those 7 conf games by double digits...top 3 and a 1 seed.

I have to take exception with the best conference title. The Big 12 is miles ahead of the big ten and even the SEC and ACC are probably better.

Iowa as a 2 can still play in Des Moines even if Kansas is a 1. Also Iowa and Kansas could both still play in Des Moines as 1 seeds. It is a regional and 2 different regions will play in this regional. So Iowa could be 1 in the Midwest and KU a 1 in the West and both come to Des Moines.

I could see the top 5 like this:

1. UNC
2. Oklahoma
3. Iowa
4. Kansas
5. A& M

Footnote: Iowa's win-lose record of teams we lost to.
Iowa State (#4 at the time) 15-4 lost by 1
Dayton ( unranked at the time) 16-3 lost by 5
Notre Dame (ranked #17 at the time). 15-4 lost by 6

so our combined losses are to teams 46-11 by a total of 12 points ! 2 loses on the road or neutral court to RANKED teams. This is a special team.
