New OL prospect

He could get to 320 to 330 with a year under the S&C program. Doyle could build him from the ground up.

6-8, 274 will camp at Iowa this summer. A novice at strength training
he could be "Doyled" to 325.

If true, nice. And although I hope they just aren't telling the truth I've been waiting for the other Canadian, MacMillen (sp) to show improvement. Think he came in at 280ish and is now listed at 288. Something isn't matching up. While I am at it Gettis has never seemed to gain weight either. Does he not have the frame, intensity or maybe he just doesn't need the extra pounds.

What are you talking about? Gettis started off at Iowa at around 220 ... now he's in the 280s. That's a pretty substantial increase if you ask me.

As for MacMillan, he's been hit A LOT by the injury bug since hitting campus. It's hard to put on "good weight" if you're always working on rehabbing injuries.

Didn't go back and look at where Gettis started. Sixty pounds plus is pretty good and maybe why he has maxed out and why he hasn't, for reporting purposes anyway, gained over the last couple of years.

Most players gain the weight gradually as that is safe way to do it. Not many players are going to add 15-20 pounds each year, even OL or DL.
Doyle first gets rid of their bad weight and then begins to build the good weight. He can probably get this guy up to 325 but it will take 4-5 years to do it.

If he added 50-60 pounds in one year he would either look like House from Wildcats or need chemical enhancement. Many of these kids don't even "gain" weight until their RS sophmore years because they come in with 30-40 pounds of bad weight they have to lose before adding good weight. 320 might be possible but it will take a min of 3 years to get there.

Agree with Larew and DuffMan...they won't just pack on weight to pack on weight...they don't want a fatass, they want a strongass, mobile, big guy who can handle the extra weight...they'll do it right and it'll take time.
