New Hawkeye FB commit, on 10/15 ........

The coaches got to watch him up close and personal in camps. They have a 100x greater insight into this kid and his potential than "rivals", "247", or "scout" combined.

and iowa has proven time and time again that it can put a pretty salty DL on the field made up of guys who weren't necessarily DL in high school. I see this kid as a DT and maybe a DE if he has the Claiborne quicks.

Rivals, 247, and Scout...combined with a bunch of big time programs, thought enough of Adrian Clayborne to rate his as the 8th best prospect in the nation at his position. This is why Clayborne has offers from virtually any school he wanted, from Nebraska to Michigan State. Quite different than this commit, who is a 2 star without any other major offers. I am therefore puzzled where the comparisons are coming from, as the only thing he has in common with Adrian thus far is that both guys committed to Iowa and both were offered by Kirk. You could say the same about any commit we got. Maybe he will be the next Bob Sanders, but again, can't you say that about any 2 star commit that Kirk offers?

Where did I compare him to Clayborn?

I'm all for signing the 8th best players at each position each year. The reality is we get maybe 2 or 3 or those type every 3 or 4 years. So that means we have to cast a wider net, and look for talent that others are overlooking. If you think that kids don't fly under the * ranking radar, then you obviously have never followed Iowa football.
