NELSON TO IOWA!!!

So where do you think he ends up.TE? OL? DE?

he is 6'8" 250 right now. i'm guessing he'll add much weight to his frame prior to coming to iowa. very athletic kid. no matter what position he plays, he won't play right away and will redshirt, giving him another year to grow. OT is where he lands.

Well he is really into his academics and plans to be an orthopedic surgeon so ISU was out of the running early. Iowa did an amazing job showing that the academics are comparable to ND and Stanford and Reese killed it. Pretty awesome Thursday to say the least.

are you saying you can't go to medical school if you do your undergrad at ISU? if so, that is 100% incorrect.

Well what about his "old" recruiter - Reese Morgan! 5 of the top 6 in Iowa! Well done, Reese.

Good plan. After his career as an offensive lineman, he can replace his own knees!

Was Reese who recruited him? My statement was more of a general statement on how this year has been going and that it seems that some of the new coaches are really adding a spark. Also I have not been critical of recruiting at Iowa in the past just noting that it is getting better.

No sh*t????????????????? I'm saying why would you go to ISU for your undergrad when you want to be an orthopedic surgeon? Would you go to Iowa for your required courses just to go to ISU's vetmed school? Yes you can, but not the easiest way to go.

You clearly have no idea how the process works. I went to Iowa and have a biology degree with the pre-med courses as well. Nothing I did there in undergrad/pre-med course work would have prepared me any more to go to med school at iowa as compared to doing the same course work at iowa state - biology with pre-med course work. organic chemistry is organic chemistry, my friend.

people take all different kind of majors and end up going to medical school. one of the sharper people i knew was majoring in art along with taking the requisite premed courses. her angle was that she enjoyed art, and that once she got into med school she'd be taking enough science anyway. pre-med courses is just a subset of math and science courses -nothing to do with medicine whatsoever.

in summary, where you do your undergrad has no bearing on getting into med school - just as long as you have taken the requisite premed courses (available at any college) and make the grades.

in fact, medical schools take a certain percentage of in state kids, u of iowa kids and then out state kids. back in the day, it was mathematically more beneficial to be coming in from outside the u of iowa - given the way they made up the class with the percentages. but i'm sure you knew that.

any more questions on the topic?

I don't think that it matters. Most in Iowas med school went somewhere other than Iowa for undergrad.

Love it! And he comes from a ISU family. ISU must have thought they had the inroad on this one!

@4.9 he's not that fast and with a 250 bench he's not overly strong. But the frame is there for a great lineman or TE. I agree...DE seems to be a reaching a bit.
