You got a learning disability here? It wasnt an empty personnel package, it was a regular package, and the RB motioned out into the slot.

Generally speaking its hard to substitute once the other team is on the LOS.

There was at least one instance today of a LB being lined up out on the sideline. You're right that I don't remember the exact sequence on the TD. But the only people with learning disabilities are the ones that can't see that the best teams in America bring the house on third and long to get the ball out of the QB's hands, thus not leaving their LBs out in coverage. My point remains.

even in a dime there typically is one linebacker. Don't know who'd you put in besides him.

However the fact that we leave a 4-3 in against 3 and 4 wr sets is baffling and bizaare.

But many of the things that this coaching staff does schematically is hard to understand.

why are people still calling out players?

Im more calling out why Norm has him out there. I think he's a fine player on non passing downs and he's probably our best hitting backer. I'm just saying we don't need to have him in on third and long. He's just not built for that. More Norms fault.

Tyler has played really good ball overall for the hawks in his career. But as a lot of posters have said I blame this 3rd and long defensive scheme not the player. The second sparty touchdown, on third and 8, it is crazy to have your middle lbkr out wide covering a tailback or receiver. We give up a lot of third and long conversions because of this coverage.

You better send Jon a message and let him know!

P.S. - What he means by calling out players is saying "so and so sucks, so so chokes ect ect.

Tyler is a very good LB. It's unfair to ask him to cover a WR or a RB but that is the weakness in Norm's scheme. Other teams know it and exploit it. I'm sure he would prefer to cover a TE, but the other teams know exactly what we will do on defense and create mismatches. Too bad that's the mismatch they seem to create. :(

I'm not calling out the defensive scheme on passing downs. Not him. I'm just saying it's not working with him on the field on third and long. It's not the kids fault that he isn't out there to man up receivers. He just isn't built for that. Other than that he's a great linebacker.

well, he's arguably our best cover LB, and when you put his name as the title of the thread, it looks like calling out to me. if your beef is with the scheme, just say that then.

for the record, i have the same beef, just change the name of the LB to Klink, or whatever. it happens and will continue to happen with this scheme. would generally work more if we only played power running teams, but not so much against the teams that spread it out.

I don't care how you spell it. He's not good. Gave up THREE touchdowns on passes. Not even mentioning the TWO other big plays he left a man wide open. Terrible.
People of low intelligence generally don't care about spelling, so thanks for proving my point.

the problem is that on the touchdown catch by the rb nielsen was actually in good position but cousins made a good back shoulder throw and the rb made a great catch. a db couldnt have been positioned any better than he was. nielsen is our best lb and even in a dime you have a lb on the field and if we were in a dime i would bet my life on the fact thay tyler would be on the field instead of kirksey or morris. could the coaches do a better job of getting players in position, probably but that is every team. msu just out executed us at major points of the game.
