Need more evidence of the ineptitude on offense?

With the revolutionary play call BF made at Wisconsin I can see why we can't convert any. Put the ball in the hands of the slowest athlete on the field and count on him to punch it in.

LOL, that was an excellent play call. The opponents have good players as well and that Wisconsin guy made one hell of a play. Heck I'd say that play was about as miraculous as a QB dropping a snap on the 1 yard line. Sometimes good play calls don't work. Sometimes shitty play calls end up working. The game is still played on the field and players make plays (both Iowa and its opponents).

I had no problem with that play call. Sargent should have plowed over the official to get his block.

Yep, that was a good play call for sure. Even without that block, I'd bet that Nate gets in the end zone 9 times out of 10 on that play. This 1 time, the Wisconsin defender made the perfect hit in the perfect spot to stand Nate up and keep him out of the end zone.

I was on the field shooting photos and was stationed on the goal line for that play. Orr, the linebacker got Nate low to stop his legs and then the safety hit him high. Great defense by Badgers. And the hit up high sounded like a cannon going off from where I was standing.

Yeah the safety hitting him up high is what I am talking about. If just Orr hits Nate low, he falls right into the end zone. It was the 2nd guy who stood him up for the half second needed for other players to then push Nate back.

Yes - should have left some bruises on that zebra. If-dog-rabbit.

But why didn't he? Where does that lack of aggressiveness come from?

At the end of the day, it seems that anyone trying to sugar coat such an abysmal stat in anyway whatsoever, is attempting to defend the indefensible.

The stat is abysmal, and what is even worse is Iowa on 3rd and short in general. The team is PATHETIC in those situation for sure, and has been under Brian, and even longer than that really. I am not trying to sugar coat that, because it is bad, it is beyond bad, it is pathetic and abysmal.

I don't lump that 2 pt conversion in with that, because this was a departure for Iowa, this was a play they tried to spread the field and take advantage, it was a change in philosophy instead of pack em all in, 2 TE a FB and then gain half a yard. It didn't work, but it was a good play call, and a step in the right direction to correcting some of the issues Iowa has.

Shocking stat. Assuming that only 40% are successful, the odds of going 0-for-10 are 0.6%. Only Iowa.
Not as bad as Iowa not recovering 7 straight opponents on-side kicks though. Only this staff could pull these things off.

Absolutely. You don't get merit badges for politeness in football. In the way? Sorry, bud. Next time, don't get in the way.

Well if you want to spread the field why was Sargent in the backfield???? If you want to make it look almost ABSOLUTELY like a pass play to totally fool the defense then motion sargent out wide or put him way out in the slot to take another defender out of the box.

I didnt really think it was a bad call but I would not have had the running back in the backfield which still signaled to the defense that we might run.

And a faster player than Nate would have been diving into the endzone. Not bashing Nate but just a truth if you are talking about a Tua or Hurts.

Wasn't Sarge on the left wing and was coming in from that side and got blocked by the umpire?

I would have liked the call a lot better if Nate would have been under center instead and then rode Linderbaum with 10 pushing from behind into the end zone. I did not like Nate in shot gun & the little fake. We needed a faster starting play.

I didn't have an issue with that call...having said that 0 fer forever is no way to instill confidence in your play calling in those situations. Perhaps someone could dream up a call that mystifies a Defense that Badger defender saw Stanley coming all the way and hit Nate like a freight train.

Stats/numbers tell us a lot, but they never tell the whole story.
Regardless, the numbers are more than enough proof that BF is a complete failure and 100% of teams would have fired him by now...except good ol' Iowa cause that's "our way".
Hate to admit it, but I'm starting to see why the rest of the country has alwasy said nice things, but honestly never respected us.

He didn't see the call coming. Badger defenders said in the postgame that they weren't expecting the play. The problem was it took too long to develop and gave them time to crush Nate.

It is hard to fathom 0fer for the last 10 on 2 pt conversions. Over the last 2 years how many goal to go plays from 3 yards out did we rub a defender and end up with a wide open receiver just in the end zone. Where are those plays???

And in the game Saturday on 3rd and goal from about the 3 yd line the TD pass went to a nice sit down route a yard in the end zone which is hard to stop unless a linemen deflects the pass.

You can have several wideouts just go into the endzone, get basketball box out position and throw them the ball.
