Need blitz pressure to rattle Armstrong

The hawks cant let that guy get into a rhythm. He is streaky but will throw those picks. Quickest route to him is maybe with Jewell or a safety coming up the middle, get in his face and vision and make him pull the ball down, throw off his timing.

The hawks will want to stop the run first but the last two weeks show either the Dee Linemen are maybe a little wore out with a lot of snaps.

Either way it seems a 5th rusher is needed to get some pressure.

Should the coverage guys try a little more press or tighter coverage if we blitz one guy on a lot more passing type plays?

Understatement of the season. If we let one more guy stand back there, count to 7, and throw it will come back to bite us. Same ol same ol D may get us beat one of these days.

It needs to be containment pressure though, Armpunt lives on the bomb after breaking contain.

It might drive us nuts, but I could see us just playing contain. Going up the middle and not getting there could be bad. Make him roll to his left and no big lanes.

Worried about King's ankle. If it is anything like our RB's injury we are trouble. We also lose our kick and punt returner.

If you have the blitz come up the middle then yes the Dee Ends need to maintain containment on the edge.

I just cant stand the amount of time the Qbs are getting and many times the hawk lnbkrs end up covering grass/artificial grass when the qbs have so much time.

I thought we would see more blitz today but it was only a few times.

The hawks offense is definitely scoring points but would love to see Nebby stopped cold.

I think this is exactly what we'll see. It's going to be base defense. Force Armstrong to beat us without making mistakes. We'll force him to put together long drives.
Get ready for another high stress game.

High stress? The last two teams we beat were, frankly, bad. NE is a half step up. Base D may just get us a loss next week.

... and when we are not blitzing I would like to introduce Mr. Armstrong to Mr. Jewell ... Josie needs to be spying on him all night.

I'm not saying it's how I'D coach it but I bet you that's what we'll see. Base defense to stop the run and force the QB to play mistake free football.

Armstrong is sooo erratic, schematically I really do not think it really matters how you D him up

I agree where is our pressure coming from? Its non existent, were last in the league for QB sacks.Sure wish the coaches could put a good blitz package in.As far as Armstrong we better have one of our LB's spying him or he will take off.Proud of the team lets get healthier and improve in all phases.11-0 is pretty darn good but 12-0 sounds better.Go Hawks

When the backup QB on the worst team in the conference starts to carve you up... it should be a wake up call. The game film from the last two weeks is a road map for how a decent QB can beat us.

I've said that all year. It's our achilles heel on defense. Especially now that Ott has been out. So far, it hasn't cost us a game. Which is amazing.

I believe the real key to this game is not our defense. I really believe getting out early is the key. This seems to force Tommy into doing too much. That is when his TO's happen. It will be very interesting what the weather brings. Cold windy day favors the hawks. Tommy tends to force throws, especially to Westerkamp. If Iowa plays their base defense and can get Tommy to think he can lay it between the zone coverage it will be advantage Hawks. Also remember a bye week tends to bring some rust to an offense...another advantage.

Defensively it will be interesting how Nebraska plays it. If they load the box CJ will have a hay day with our tight ends...their Achilles heel is their secondary. Screen game, play action and a mobile CJ will be huge.

I feel our special teams will also be an advantage. I really believe we have bulletin board material. I honestly think this game has been highlighted in Kirk's mind since last black Friday. I believe that game is what caused Kirk to really look in the mirror. When Eichorst questioned where our program was it opened Kirk's eyes. I think Iowa 34 Nebraska 21.

I will be there enjoying every second of their demise.

Applebees isn't even very good else he would start!?!?
Leidner blows too and we made him look like a Goofer hero.
Hawks can't have to outshoot other teams to win, our D plan must adapt this week.
