Nebraska's TE Coach terminated

Wager joined Matt Rhule’s staff ahead of the 2023 season after 17 years as the head coach at Arlington (Texas) Martin High School

Waited for an opportunity and blew it. Oops!

I've been watching the B1G media days.

Ruhle impresses me.

Looks like he could make a statement soon.
Yep. He said something to the effect of "We're not trying to win this year. We're trying to lay a foundation for winning." That's what needed to be done for the last couple of coaches. Frosty was so high on himself that he thought he could come in and go 12-0 right away.

I belive that Nelson would have to place his name in the portal for any recruitment activities to occur. I'm pretty sure any outside contact right now would be a violation.

By all reports, Carter grew up a big Husker's fan, so it's hard to see the forced termination having a huge impact. In the unlikely event he were to enter his name at this stage, Rhule would continue to lobby him hard, and the blue-bloods would all jump back into the picture.

I think Iowa is very content with the current make-up of its TE room. Unless Carter himself reached out to the Iowa staff (we didn't even get an official from him), very hard to envision him ending up in IC.

Damn!! For just a DUI? most dudes get multiple chances at those (maybe this is his 2nd or 3rd already or he's on a no tolerance kind of thing heck if I know)

That said I have no problem with guys being one and done for that it should be taken that seriously. It's just usually not. I wonder how they'd react to a player getting one especially an under age one.

I too think Rhule is a good fit and will get Nebbie back to respectability, but then again, I thought that about Frost.

Its been fun watching Nebbie swing the pendulum so violently ever since Father Tom hung up his hypocritical whistle and headed to DC to do nothing.

Solich was too stuck in the past and in Nebbie's running tradition, so they hired Callahan to modernize the offense with a pro style look. Nope.

Nebraska needed to get back to its roots, so they hired a college guy who was tough as nails (except for the weird cat thing), with a focus on defense and running the football.

All Pelini did was win 9 games every year. He made them relevant again. However, Pelini was an asshole with no polish, no media savvy, a dumbass brother, and every time he played a good team he would lose by 30.

So what did they do? They hired the nicest old man on the planet who was both versed in the modern, pro style game but had college roots. Perfect, right? Except he had no investment in Nebraska, was always overrated, and was past whatever prime he had.

Fear not, the hottest young coach in the game just came off an undefeated season after turning around a cellar program, and he is a Nebbie alum, brash and speaks of title after title, loves Nebbie's tradition, runs a sophisticated college offense, and he can run this program for 3 decades like his mentor. What could go wrong?! Oh wait, he hired a high school staff and spent all of his time golfing, drinking and chasing beer cart girls.

So, now they have brought in an older, steady hand, who is seemingly more humble, more self-aware, and wants to lay a foundation that will lead to victory. 5th times the charm, Nebbie?

I wonder if it was the open container thing? And being 1:30 am?

Not justifying a DUI, but I could see Rhule addressing it differently if the coach had been out to dinner, got pulled over for a burned out tail light at 8 pm or whatever, and happened to blow just over the limit. It's still a DUI, no doubt about it.

But sort of wonder about the decision making process for an adult who is pulled over drunk at 1:30 am and has an open container in the car.

I'd guess Debby is just a wee bit sensitive to any alcohol malfeasance considering Frosty's penchant for the bottle.
