Nebraska....

Someone on the Husker board said they should go after a transfer, but another guy replied that there’s no way a transfer is coming in to compete for a job with a 3-year starter, and I think that’s correct.
They're out of their minds if they think they're going to get anyone to come into that program who's worth a shit. Those days are gone.

Guys who transfer to that program are going to be the ones who can't latch on anywhere else. Not guys who are looking for a winning program.

But the offense, Frost's baby, has severely regressed.

That has to be troubling for fans, right?
I hang out on Huskerboard a fair bit because I like watching slow motion train wrecks unfold, and the fans there seem to have now accepted they suck for the most part. It's more about being pissed at Frost for not fixing things and the apathy has set in. Which is great.

It seems to be a 50/50 mix of "fire frost and all his staff," and "he needs more time and there's no one out there better who would come to our program."

The only true part is that no one better would touch that program with a 10 foot pole.

Not inferring either party is interested at this point but Farniok was recruited pretty heavily by Iowa. He made several trips to IC prior to his commitment to NE.

That was my thought too. But I looked at the Omaha World-Herald site and it is Matt Farniok's brother, Will. Matt is heading to the NFL (or is going to try). He is the one we recruited and barely lost out on, IIRC. Will has been at Nebraska for three years and it pretty much sounded like he was buried on the depth chart.

With what we have in the pipeline, I don't think he is someone we would be interested in.

Will actually played quite a bit. He's the one who missed the block on that game ending interception when we played them.

Yeah that's right............I thought it was Matt that was considering another school.

It seems they are paying penance for playing fast and loose with the rules during their glory years of Devaney and Osborne. He's never had to build a team before, much less one that competes with the likes of tOSU.

Long gone are the days when Fuskers were cock of the walk in a very weak Big Eight, then Big 12. It has been a long, slow slide into mediocrity since then. Osborne no longer can dip into his dirty bag of recruiting tricks and blue-chippers aren’t climbing all over themselves to get to Lincoln.

Nebraska has joined the vast ranks of being simply average in P5 football. There’s no reason to believe Frost will be able to lift them out of that pool any time soon.

Sweet.

I've never been one to think that Frostbite is on the hot seat because he's the golden child and he'll get a longer leash than anyone else would.

But 4 guys who play significant snaps in one month (Robinson left for Kentucky a few weeks ago), 2 of them starters, is a huge, huge problem.

He's not gonna be able to plug all these holes on his sinking ship and husker fans aren't apparently intelligent enough to see that their recruiting is gone baby gone. They need to realize that a program's success isn't built on current players, it's built on being able to get good football players to come to your school in the first place.

Someone give me one legitimate, non-bonkers reason why any 4 star kid would come to that dumpster fire unless they're an AJ Epenesa type who knew he was gonna be a husker since 7th grade...I'll hang up and listen.
I'm still a little butt hurt over that Fidone TE kid from our side of the river going to them... For the life of me I can't comprehend that. His parents must be delusional Fusker fans that brain washed him. There's no reason he or any stud TE recruit should go there. It's that simple. Then there's Martin. He decided to leave us to go walk on to that dumpster fire. I can't understand that either. He seems like a kid that's scared to compete. With our 2 top guys moving on he coulda had last yr to work with Petras and hit the ground running next yr to be one of our top WRs if not the top if he's all that and a bag of chips. But nope...

Fidone grew up a life-long Husker fan. It would have been an upset for him to choose us.
I grew up in Southwest Iowa. Council Bluffs is pretty much an even mix of Hawkeye, Cyclone and Husker fans. Not at all like Eastern Iowa or the rest of the state for that matter.

Then he of all people should know how bad they suck... I mean he's 18ish right? So maybe he's been paying attention/understanding football since he was 10-12 yrs old. What the hell has NE done since then? It makes even less sense to be a child fan of theirs growing up. I don't get it.

Just saw that McCaffrey, Warner and Farniok are all transfering out along with that stud WR that announced awhile ago that he was... That sort of attrition isn't supposed to be happening going into year 4 of a program is it?.... Good news is with the those WRs leaving it's more reps for Oliver Martin to get there...HA Not that Martinez can get it to him down the field anyway

You do know that Martinez was something like 18-20 passing against the hawks this year. I am not saying he is some great passer and prototypical QB but he is very good.

There is no good spin on any of this. In the last two weeks, the Huskers have lost, by far, there best offensive playmaker, and arguably there second best naturally talented playmaker in McCaffrey. They have also lost a team captain, who is an NFL name and if nothing else made this a bigger story. The Farniak kid is no loss, but when he announced on the same day as the other two, he certainly amplified the story.

Frost is going into his fourth year with a QB who has not progressed at all (perhaps even regressed). He has done nothing but lose in his three years as a starter, and one cannot see any discernible upgrade in talent around him. Oh, and the schedule is a murderers row next year.

Frost is most definitely on the hot seat, but 6-6 and a bowl game buys him another year, IMHO.

BTW, in some ways, doesn't this speak to the bad arguments from all of the independents and lower league teams who complain about not being respected by the playoff committee?

Here is a guy who took Central Florida to an undefeated season in basically 2 seasons, but now he is at a named BCS program in an average division with all the resources in the world, and he is mired below .500 for three seasons and counting? Its a lot easier to rattle off wins when you are playing _____ (shit, I don't even know what teams are in CFU's conference) as opposed to Big Ten teams every week.
