Nebraska Tailgating

Good Morning Hawkeye Nation!

I have been on here a few times, and come as a fan of the Cyclones first but cheer on the Hawkeyes when they aren't playing each other! As my previous post have stated my Dad is a huge Hawk fan, but is too cheap to buy tickets to a game. I was able to get some tickets for the Nebraska game in a few weeks and would like to know where is the best place to tailgate at. I am either going to bring over my suburban, with 8 people which would be a little tight, otherwise I thought about bringing over my tailgating bus. A little help of where to tailgate at would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Edit - Sorry if I posted this in the wrong thread. Please move if needed.

there are some nice neighborhoods right around Kinnick. Many of those home owners charge fans to park in their yards and will let you tailgate as well. Bring a cooler of beverages, food, chairs ect.... Then you'll only have about a 3-4 minute walk to the stadium.

There isn't really one concentrated big area of tailgating in Iowa City like you'd find at Penn State, Iowa State, etc. It's really scattered around. We don't have a huge parking lot or open field close to the stadium for people to do that. Which is also what makes it more fun in my opinion.

Look out your window at the neighborhood and imagine someone dropped a hospital and gigantic football stadium right across the street. That's kind of what it's like. Don't forget to grab some pork on a stick and take your picture in front of the statue.

Sigh. I remember when it would have been fun to make jokes about how much better the home team in Kinnick will be than what a Clone fan sees in Jack T.

Don't despair... we SHOULD be getting a new (different) coach in 10 years or so... so hang in there buddy. No, wait... will that replacement coach be yet another Ferret, Ferentz?? Arrggh!

Thanks for the feedback. I have been to IA City for a few tailgates, and have enjoyed myself. I always have to pay for my Dad, because as mentioned he is too cheap to buy his own tickets. However, he will tell me how nice it would be, to be at the game this weekend.

I am just trying to figure out if there are "open to the public lots" and if so which one is the best one to park in.

Thanks again!
