Nebraska Proves It’s Both Desperate And Disingenuous

326 offers for one HS class. I’m sure it means a lot to get that lame-ass form letter in the mail. You’re really showing those recruits you “mean it,” frosty.

So Iowa has 91 offers. I wonder out of those 91 offers how many also have Nebraska offers.

Interesting to see Minnesota has basically cut its offers in half from previous cycles.

When you don't include character as one of your filters in recruiting you end up with the Mo Washington's of the world.

The crazy thing, though, is that even with as shitty as they've performed the last 5 years, they continue to bring in Top 25 classes. Granted, they obviously don't know how to develop them once they're there, but the fact they can still bring in that type of talent while remaining largely irrelevant during the last 20 years is crazy.

If you put out the message:

Come here, we will put you in an environment that values hard-work and accountability, you will have a fair opportunity to earn playing time, you will be part of a family, we will develop you into a better human being, and we will maximize your chances of making a paying career out of football.
...you get hard-nosed, driven kids who want to be part of something bigger than themselves.

If you put out the message:

You are the superstar piece this team needs (by the way, I have also offered 300 more of those super-star pieces). Come be a part of this all-star recruiting class we are putting together. When you get here, you are going to play right way. We are going to dominate with all our talent; it is going to be easy, it is going to be awesome, you need to get on board!
...you are going to get the type of kid that switches high schools to go play with the other good BB players so it is easier to win championships. The type of kid that demands instant gratification. The type of kid that does not accept responsibility. The type of kid that isn't willing to put in the work necessary to reach their potential.

Iowa knows what they are doing with their messaging.

One of the very few things I like about the Twitter age is that we get to see things like this and frost will get asked about it. In 1989 nobody had a fucking clue about how many offers got made, let alone who got offered and from where. You didn’t really know anyone on the team until they got playing time as sophomores in most cases.

That tweet by Sanderson is getting traction, and frost got squirmy last year when he was asked about it. He’ll definitely get quizzed on it, especially if the tire fire continues.

The most shocking thing about the list: Stanford has offered 27 guys. And Iowa thinks they are selective.
