Nebraska: Our First Chance at a Nationally Relevant Rival Game?

I think you are very wrong. But that is usual for you in my eyes :p

I've seen a lot of Nebraska posters on different forums already look at Iowa as a big rival game. To say just fans of Iowa have an infatuation with NU like ISU is dumb. Lots of fans from all over the B16 Ten are excited to have Nebraska. This is just a start in what is about to change the landscape of College Football and that is why they are getting so much attention. Don't get attention and infatuation mixed up Ghost.

No, there is a definate Nebraska infatuation. All week, there has been a ton of Nebraska talk, especially from Miller. We are definately circling our calendar for the Nebraska game.

Nebraska is not.

They think they're hot ****. They want to go up against the big boys. Iowa, despite our recent success, is not the big boy they are looking to tag. Going into Iowa City and beating us is not going to be a monumental success for them. Going into Columbus or Happy Valley is.

And don't get me wrong, this is because Nebraska fans are self reverent, not because we are not a great team.

of course there has been a lot of talk about nebraska this week...might have something to do with the fact that THEY JUST JOINED THE B16 TEN. if mizzou had just joined, we'd all be talking about them.

its not "infatuation", its talking about what is relevant at this point in time. you don't think if texas gets hot and heavy on joining that we won't be talking about them a lot?

I'm pretty sure going into Columbus and Happy Valley and winning is huge for most schools. But you can't tell me that they do not think Iowa is a rival already. I also do not think Nebraska will have a Rivalry with Penn State like they would against Iowa. They may with OSU but I still do not believe it will be as big as the Iowa vs Neb rivalry will be. I believe they are circling Iowa just as Iowa will probably be circling them (i've already seen Nebraskans post about the rivalry so I don't see how you can say they are not).

I am telling you that Nebraska does not consider Iowa a rival. A few fans might, but the overwhelming majority do not. Certainly nowhere near the number of Iowa fans who consider Nebraska a rival. Not until we beat them a few times.

CORRECT!
They may not view us as a rival right now. Give it 5-10 years though, as rivalries are formed not pronounced by the fans.....When we beat them 7 out of 10 times, and they have to listen to us remind them daily of this, that will p!ss them off, and there will be a rivalry! :D

I think the media will spin it as a rivalry and has potential to be ABC regional or ESPN national broadcast most times they play. If Iowa gets the first victory or two, it will quickly be viewed as a rivalry amongst NU fans as well. If Iowa doesn't hold their own, it becomes ISU/NU Part II.
