Nebraska-Iowa … call it what you want - Omaha.com

they say it's not a rivalry, that it is contrived. Problem is, they are new in the conference and any "rivalry" is going to be contrived in one way or another.

Beat the Bugeaters in their house, take the Outback bowl from them, then we got the makings of a rivalry.

I don't understand the contrived rivalries in the B1G. Like many have said, if you win on a regular basis, it will be a rivalry. As of now, it seems like we have more of a rivalry with MSU and UW. If Iowa and Nebraska are fighting for the West Championship on an annual basis, or if one team plays spoiler to the other, it may become a rivalry.

It should be a rivalry, IMO, but time will tell.

As much as I would like this to be a rivalry...it simply is not! I dislike Lil Debbie more then the next, but we simply cannot say we have brought anything to the table. One thing in our favor this year...Bo is a dead man walking. There team in in disarray...now I know Debbie fans will say we are winning. Yes you are, barely against teams a normal Husker team demolishes. You have more talent then most in the B1G. However you are prone to simple ineptness, turn overs, poor tackling, and to me athletes afraid to play for fear of the spitting and F bombs Bo will drop on them for any and every mistake. I for one see an Iowa squad that is motivated...which isn't always true because our teams tend to take on the persona of their coach. I saw in Michigan last week in the 2nd half a team DETERMINED to WIN. I think you will see an Iowa team that comes in and simply out-physicals Lil Debby Friday...this is the first year I think that this will happen...call me crazy!

Can't agree more. The new divisions will lead to new rivalries. For NU, the biggest price paid to come to the B1G was shedding their old Big 12/Big 8 rivals. It takes time for new rivalries to establish.

It will take time for sure but nobody will believe it's a rivalry unless we start winning once in awhile.

This. Exactly. Until Iowa beats them a few times when it means something... it's not a rivalry.
Beating them in Lincoln with a nice new years day bowl game on the line accelerates things nicely in that direction.

I agree with much of what you say, except that I'm not so sure that Bo is a dead man walking. For now, he certainly is in pergatory from everything I have heard. I think if we win Friday, he is ok, but if we lose it makes his seat quite a bit hotter. I would also not agree that kids are afraid of getting yelled at if the screw up, I think they are more afraid of getting pulled and never seeing the field again if they make mistakes. Bo has a very odd way of (mis) managing his roster.

Also, I think that our kids are motivated, if for anything, to save Bo's job. They hear the rumblings, and contrary to what some think, they do love playing for Bo. That being said, I'm not chalking this up as a W.

^^^^^^^^^^^^ what they said.

Btw I get to go watch (he says with a big **** eating grin).

I do have one question, was that why we did not just demolish Mich? Just spitballing, but with a week off, two games to go, win and you made it to the first. Pretty darn good job.

It can't be a rivalry because Debbie has no rivalries. They dumped those along with the rest of their history when they came begging to the B10's table. Iowa got stuck with the trophy because no one else in the conference even knew where the hell Nebraska was, let alone cared anything about ever playing them.

They remind me of ISU since the cyclowns have no rivals, either. Both of them have no other border state programs to play, all they have is the Hawks, when we'd rather just think of our centuries-old rivals to the East and North.

That is bologne, if there is hatred then its a rivalry. Thats all that matters. And we got plenty of hate for the Cornsuckers around here.

Oh it's on now. You will be able to stuff Mr. Kellogg in a box of cornflakes after we are done with him. I want to beat those arrogant, redneck, still think its 1995 pieces of big red trash so bad I can taste it. GO HAWKS!

You sound like a Clown fan.

I hear more about 1995 from Hawk fans than I do Husker fans. You're fixated on the 90's more than we are.
