Nebraska fans make me sick

So last Saturday i showed up at my local watering hole (Roadside Inn) to watch the Iowa game. My friend and i were some of the first patrons to show up like normal. We watched the game all the way up until the rain delay.

Meanwhile there was a youth tackle football tournament going on at the local high school football field. Evidently a lot of the teams came from western Iowa which brought 20 or so cornshucker fans down to the bar. While the rain delay happend a couple fans wanted to watch the the Neby game. We said ok but when the Iowa game comes back on we are changing it back. We thought we would be nice.

Keep in mind there are only 2 flatscreens in the whole bar resturant and i also am great friends with the owner who is a big Hawkeye fan. There is Iowa gear hanging everywhere.

So i grabbed the remote to change the bar tv back to the Iowa game. When i did that several guys at the bar said what are you doing!? I responded With a "what are YOU doing? I explained to them about how they were sitting in a Hawkeye bar in Iowa and how they are lucky that i dont change both TVs to the Iowa game. I was trying to compromise.

In return i got a "show some respect" and a "since your out numbered go watch the game somewhere else!"

I just about freaked out. I said to them, "you dont see me driving into the heart of Nebraska and demanding the Tv stays on the hawkeye game do you? Look around fellas you are in a IOWA HAWKEYE BAR!! You show some respect... One guy said back to me, "whatever i guess we will take the high road." trying to make me feel bad for compromising. I felt like puking on everyone of them.

Seriously what would die hard Nebraska fans do to me if i tried to pull that **** in their state?
No matter how outnumbered you are never let our ******* neighbors to the west take over your local bar as long as you live in the Hawkeye State! That is my new pledge!

Sounds like you ran into some grade-A douchetools.

I never had any problem watching Iowa at a bar in Omaha.

Is the Roadside Inn at all like Roadhouse?

That sucks, sorry you ran into some a-holes. Every fan base has them.

As for the bolded, I would not suggest it. Probably would be ugly. ;)

The Roadside is tiny, however it could turn into the Roadhouse with some of their local patrons. I'd pay money to watch them throw down with the outside Husker fans. It would be entertaining for sure!

Speaking of roadhouse...

Oh and on the way out the door one guy yelled Go Big Red!! followed by his 8 year old screaming it even louder. I guess he felt like he got the last word in. Man i sure hope we find a way to win in Lincoln this year.

This is really at the core of my hatred. Iowans rooting for a different state's team. There really is no excuse for it although they try like hell to find one.

I would have yelled back you need some big red, cuz your breath smells like stinky ball sweat.

I have never had to much problems with husker fans. I don't care for them, but I have not met a whole lot of them ether.

There is a bar in DesMoines The Chicken Coop and it is a Iowa bar, but the Nebraska fans make it their home base. I few years back Iowa bowl game and Nebbys bowl game backed up to each other. Some Nebby fans got unruly about changing to the game before Iowa was done. The owner is a Nebby fan and he was not having it. Long story Hawks stayed on and the Nebby fan wounded up knocked out in the bathroom.

Your in IOWA deal with it. GO HAWKS!

Eddy, thank you for supporting me through my transition to a Northwestern fan. You get it. If you live somewhere, you have to be a fan of that team. Once you cross the Missourrah into Iowa, you have to be an Iowa fan. Once you move into Evanston, you have to be a 'Cat fan. I've been trying to 'splain that to everyone on here, but finally you get it. If I stroll into a bar in IC and go to flip on the 'Cats, there better be an army of about 20 dudes to rassle the remote away.
