Bryson Williams returned to Iowa for its spring game last week. The talented D-Tackle from Nebraska strengthened his bond with the Hawkeye coaches:

Jurgens and Mapieu, who we offered, are ranked higher. I like Williams a lot and could see him being the best of the bunch.

I agree. I don't think Williams fits in Diaco's 3-4, which is good for us.

A good friend of mine used to play for them. He says a lot of people are afraid he will come to haunt them. they absolutely hate it when players from Nebraska play for us and then beat them lol.

I wonder if the Noah Shannon commitment scared him off? Shannon was higher rated at DT.

I'd read on another forum/board Iowa had backed off. Of course a Badger douche right away said that was because Wisconsin came into the picture. So who knows.

I doubt a previous commitment scared him off....guys that have the talent to start at a B1G school typically aren't scared by competition. There's no shame in losing a player or two to Bucky...those guys have certainly been better than us on the field for the better part of the last 8 years....it happens. We got Plumb and they got Bryson....I still say we got the better of that exchange.

I agree, normally talent follows talent but the timing on this one is what raised my suspicion. A few hours after Shannon commits to Iowa, Bryson commits to Wisconsin. No big deal I think we got the better of the two DTs plus Plumb.

Didn't we used to rarely land Big 10 ready D tackles? Seems we have been getting a lot more the last few years.

Once again, we did not need a TE/OT. WE needed a DT. You got the one you guys liked. We got the one we liked. We never offered Shannon for whatever reason. We did offer Williams two weeks ago. Perhaps their strengths were different.

Doesn't matter. He made his choice, he can't go wrong picking either Wisconsin or us. Hope he has a great career, with the exception of four or five particular games (wink wink).

The day Wisky doesn't need a 6'8" offensive tackle is probably the day that Barry kicks the bucket. You guys are like us in that respect....you can never have enough good OL. It's okay....we went into Wisky and stole someone you guys liked and wanted....it happens. You guys went to Nebby and stole a DT that we really liked and wanted....it happens.

This is what I don't understand, Bob. Why state that so and so got the better? No one knows until they suit up and get on the field. Our BEST receivers over the last 5 years have been walk-ons and our best QB was one too. Let the guys play and work to deserve their accolades. Hopefully, both Shannon and Williams make both programs proud.

Exactly. I have, and still some times do, get hacked off when a kid doesn't choose Iowa. But in the end, if he at least considered us, what more can we ask? Just like in business, if you get the RFP, be gracious even if you don't "win" the bidding process. Some times being second place can pay off down the road IF you handle it with grace/class.

You probably don't remember (or care about!) our situation with Eno Benjamin last year, but all I could think at the end was, "Good Lord, we didn't burn the bridge, we obliterated it". Coach Ferentz appeared to handle it with class, but the two assistants didn't have their contracts renewed. Had they handled it better, at least we could hold our heads up if the kid were to say, "Iowa was great, pure class, I just felt a better fit with _____". Unfortunately, it didn't turn out anywhere close to that scenario.

LOL! Would you like to know how many OLs we recruited over the last three years and their size? 9 and they averaged 6'6". You can only take so many and have so many on your roster. We now have 12 who are at least 6'5" and NONE are seniors. Another coming in in 2018. That doesn't include 3 OC/OGs who have good chances to be good. I'm sorry but you do have to recruit other positions as well, don't you? We liked Plumb, we didn't have the need or the room for him. I'm pretty sure he knew it. He went to a nice program, one that's known for developing NFL like linemen. I wish the best for him. Would you like me to say that if we had 25 schollies available he'd be a Badger?

Lol man. Wisconsin isn't Minnesota or Freaking ISU. If they want a kid they offer him, if the don't have room for him they don't offer. Trying to pretend that Wisconsin is a wannabe program like ISU is beneath you, and it is a bad look anyway. Don't be a ISU fan that claims every time a kid commits somewhere else that the offer wasn't commitable or the offer was pulled.
