Nebraska coach resigned, Iowa should benefit.

UConn is in a class by itself right now. I think Bluder can get the program competing with Maryland.

Most definitely! Iowa is moving up the ladder and will be contending for the BIG championship and seeing sweet 16 on a regular basis. As far as being elite........u conn is in a league all it's own but I think the gap is narrowing and in the next couple of years it's going to be a real dog fight for the championship. Women's basketball across the board are improving greatly and the likes of u conn, Tennessee, Baylor, notre dame are going to have a lot of company competing for the final 4! Where did Yori go?

I don't see that gap narrowing anytime soon with UConn. I mean, I hope it does because right now that gap is extremely wide almost to the point where it is unfair. No team really came close to competing with them last year, the closest margin of victory for them was 10 points.

We'll see if they can replace those that graduated this year. U Conn has been losing some recruiting battles lately. Depth is what has been hurting teams. I predict U Conn will not be top dog this year. Baylor is the team I believe will move to the top for this year. As far as women's basketball closing the gap.......it is closing. Maybe not as fast as we would like but a lot of women don't chose to go on to college to play. I believe that is changing. UCLA used to be head and shoulders ahead of everybody else in men's basketball and that came to an end. So will U Conn's domination.

I agree that the gap will close over time as the depth of talent widens. But it will take time. Especially when the women's game has 15 scholarships instead of 13. The best teams can keep more of the best talent.

They consider the top 100 to be what everybody seeks out with the top 52 being your 5* players. Here's where I feel the gap will be closing within a couple years. Maryland and Ohio St. each landed 4 - 5* and Baylor landed 3 - 5*. U Conn pulled in 1 - 5*. Last year Baylor, Maryland and Ohio St. had great recruiting classes also. Honestly I don't know what U Conn did last year as far as recruiting but I do know they got beat out for some big fish. Iowa has been getting top 100 players with pulling in 3 again this year. U Conn only pulled in the 1 top 100 player this year. I know the stars don't necessarily mean they are going to be good........but it helps. Geno is a fantastic coach but I think they are going to fail this year and lose maybe in the sweet 16 bracket. Maybe I'm wanting them to fail a little to much but I honestly believe the rest of the field is closing fast.
