Nebraska basketball has to be wondering

I believe under Danny Nee they either won the NIT or were in the finals. However, they have never won an NCAA game...they did make the tournament a few years under Nee.

Basketball is and always will be the ugly step child at Nebraska.

A 7-9 team (Iowa) has no business throwing stones at anybody. Nebraska beat us once already and may well beat us again. Anyone throwing stones at them after Iowa's last 3 years is a fool.

It's odd that the self proclaimed greatest fans in the history of everything become Creighton fans during basketball season.

I don't think the Nebraska program/university/fans knew what they were getting into with Big Ten basketball. They finished what they probably figured was a tough B12 conference last year at 7-9 and will most likely finish in the cellar of the Big 10 this year.
Anybody hang around Nebraska fans enough to know what they thought coming in compared to what they think now?

There are no Nebraska basketball fans. And I thought pimping a power conference which you finish at the bottom in was an Iowa State fan move that is typically jeered on HN?

Any 'good' players Nebraska had last year are gone. This team would finish very low in the Big 12 this year too.

What are we talking about?

The same Nebraska team that will be favored to sweep us tomorrow? Or the one that has a higher RPI than us?

What will be interesting is to see how many of the few Nebraska fans chose to come to the game tomorrow night, as they think they can see a victory, versus how many stay home and "vote no confidence" in the current staff? There is very little to any chatter here about the game over the last month. It has all been about who will the next coach be, or will Osborne even wait till the end of the season before pulling the plug.

There is a large number of Husker fans who would love Iowa to come in here and drop Nebraska by at least 20 to, hopefully, hasten the demise of Doc Sadler.

While many of the posters are correct, Nebraska has never really embraced basketball, there seems to be more interest growing from the new arena now under construction, and opening in the fall of 2013. Osborne has to consider how is he going to sell all those sky boxes if he brings Doc back for one more year. He also has to consider how to explain to boosters that two top players in their own backyard (AW & MG) escaped to Iowa, on top of losing Elliot Eliason to Minnesota the year before.

Add to this the very real chance that Agau, the top junior this year, from Omaha Central, could go to another B1G school, and I think Nebraska has to pull the plug. Let's hope Iowa helps make that decision easier for them. Especially if MG & AW are behind the Iowa bench tomorrow night

I strongly doubt the (five) Nebraska basketball fans think much differently about their team this year than last. The Big 10 is good this year but I personally think the conference is overrated ... When your bball program has been in the cra&&er for so long you sort of get conditioned to losing ...

Is anyone else getting tired of the Big Ten being so tough talk? Everyone rips on ESPN for their love affair with the SEC and yet is lapping up their love for the Big Ten this year. It's like this whole thing is setting the conference up to fail. If the BIG has a good NCAA tourney run, then let the praise flow. I am just a little apprehensive and want to see actions speak for themselves.

Shivetts, I can relate to your whole "setting up to fail" theory, but I have that fear for a different reason. I have seen, MSU, OSU, Indiana, Penn St, Minnesota, Michigan and Nebraska all play this year, and my fear is all the hand checking, moving screens and fouls that were not called. The B1G players are going into the NCAA expecting a slug fest and could be in for a rude awakening, IMHO. All it is going to take is one set of officials from the Big 12, or ACC and let the parade to the foul line begin.
