Nebraska 98th in RPI

It's easy to say that, but we did need a 20 point comeback to beat Gardner-Webb early this season, if we play more teams in the 150-200 range instead of 250-350 range, we might have a few more losses.
So? We had a competitive game, won by nine, and it was perfect for RPI scheduling. For the millionth time, don't schedule some many 300+ teams.

Haven't read through the whole thread, so I wonder if Jon is ignoring that Nebraska likely wouldn't be at 98 if Iowa had just taken care of business in Lincoln.

Edit: yep

Let's be honest here, Iowa isn't going anywhere but the NIT unless they win tomorrow and win twice next week. Even then, it's probably a long shot.

Greater point is that all this talk about RPI is silly. Iowa scuttled any realistic shot at an NCAA bid by blowing that lead at Nebraska.

IMO not a long shot if Iowa wins three straight starting tomorrow. But maybe so, if they take like a 18-15 Baylor team over us.

Our chances of getting in with 3 more wins improve daily as other bubble teams lose. Iowa (or any other bubble team for that matter) needs to take control of their destiny and win some games and eliminate any doubt.

No offense, but have you even looked at some of the other bubble teams? Arizona State with an RPI in the mid 90s. Virginia with an RPI of 70 and a non-con SOS almost identical to ours who lost to Old Dominion ranked #317. Southern Miss, who plays in the 11th toughest conference in the country and just loss to the mighty Marshall Thundering Herd and have ZERO wins against RPI Top 50.

That's just a sampling. So, to say that it's a long shot that we'll make the tourney if we make the semi's of the BTT, is laughable.

This isn't new information, which makes it aggravating to hear Fran talk about scheduling light because of the freshman.

Fine, schedule light, but don't schedule like an idiot. You can find a ton of likely wins that won't kill your RPI.

I can understand being aggravated with Fran for not playing the game but its equally aggravating that you should have to play it. I would understand if a computer decided who made the tourney based on numbers like the BCS. But humans decide and they should be able to see through the BS and understand there is no difference between 4 teams in the 300's and 4 teams in the high 200's.

My opinion is hardly one that is in the minority.
