NE, SD, MN, WI, IL, MO

Tangential states with Kansas in the "almost" category.

Mizzou - in shambles as it hasn't recovered from Pinkles final year

Fighting Illini - Lovie ain't the answer

Minnesota - they had the right guy who was doing wonders. Then his health gave out and now everything is a question mark.

South Dakota - Uhhhhhh, not really competition. But for God's sake please don't mention the other Dakota.

Wisconsin - KF has been recruiting there and I give him Kudos for what he has done. Notice how I didn't mention a certain 2011 RB recruit?

Nebraska - I know, I know, irrelevant. Just most years their win total is higher than ours. Having said that the coaching carousel has taken them down a few notches and their current coach is a likeable guy who lacks the killer instinct. Hmmmmm, who does that remind me of ????????????

Finally, Kansas, which doesn't really touch our borders. But I think an occasional recruit (Colbert?) is something that will help Iowa's win total.

So, what does it all mean? Well Iowa is in a good position to raid the midwest.

Wisky will get its share.
Nebraska seems to like recruiting the south and west which should help us.
Northwestern is handicapped by standards the other B1G schools don't subscribe to.

Overall I see an uptick in recruiting . . . but that assumes that we stop losing to powder puffs and start winning more games each year than Nebraska. And that seems easily doable IMO.
As I said in another thread, Wisconsin got who it wanted and could afford to get given the needs of a very small class. No need to beat your chests too hard about recruiting Wisconsin this year other than you got some very promising recruits.

First off lemme say I welcome the insights of rival fans. I hope you continue to contribute. A little disappointed in some fellow Hawkeyes giving you crap.

Having said that, I like beating my chest. It's a big manly Sean Connery chest bush which has garnered many compliments from various babes over the years.

The reason I complimented Kirk is because I'm hopeful that invading Wisky is a sign he is tired of losing to the Badgers. I will be very disappointed if Iowa loses to Wisconsin this year. As a sign of mutual respect we should make a gentleman's bet on the outcome of the game. Are you in?

It's why I said "too hard", Josh. First off, let me compliment Iowa for spending time in Wisconsin recruiting. I love it that more kids in our state are being recognized, getting the attention, and scholarships they may deserve. It's probably going to hurt our walk-on program a little though.

The fact is although we can offer boatloads, we can only take so many, AND I believe that number is going to shrink as our reputation expands with success (should it continue) and we win more OOS recruiting battles. It kind'a happened in this class where only a fourth of our recruits came from Wisconsin.

I'm sure I'm just missing something, but I don't see Wisconsin as that great. It will be interesting to see how things go next year with Chryst. Wisconsin has enough talent that was red-shirting etc. that they will have this year, but after this we'll see how Chryst does. I'm still not convinced based on his time at Pitt, though he does have more experience calling offensive plays than does BF. So maybe I'm just wearing the B&G sunglasses. We'll see this year.

FYI, I see Iowa winning. For whatever reason the road team has won since 2009. As Deace says, don't mess with a streak.

What you may be missing is that Chryst inherited a team that had to start 4 frosh in the OL in 2015. Think about that a second. 4 frosh. The O really hasn't been up to Chryst-like performance yet. Most Badger fans expect it to be much better this year because of the experience these guys have gleaned in 2 seasons. Secondly, even with our problems on O, Chryst's teams have a 13-4 record in conference and are 21-6 overall. It's primarily due to very good defensive play and that play is expected to stay just as solid in 2017.
As for a prediction of the outcome of the Iowa VS Wisconsin game, I've learned never to predict that game but if I did it would be this year. We're going to be very good this year. Maybe not "great" but very good. I like what you are tying your hopes to, that streak, but it is worth noting that during that time frame Wisconsin is 4-2 against your Hawkeyes.

Thanx for the compliment. That Henry Geil may be one that got away. I remember Biels stealing back a guy named Melvin Gordon. I'm glad Chryst isn't that type:D. I predicted Iowa would get a nice haul from B1G territory. Looks like that is the way it is going. I was worried you guys would put together a better class than us, but now I'm feeling good about Iowa pulling even or maybe surpassing you guys. Either way our two programs will keep battling it out on the field and the recruiting trail.

As predicted the coaches are focusing on Big Ten territory.

That seems wise considering they have a leg up on the competition. With Wisky's class already near full, Iowa should be able to clean up assuming they have a good season.
