NDSU vs Iowa You Tube replay

You are nuts, the Off Lineman gave a quick block at the LOS and then went directly at Jewell, not head hunting but feet hunting, as he dives at his feet and tackles him. So blatantly a purposeful hold I have to think it is coached to the players to do this. Maybe a reason I wouldnt want their coaches coaching Iowa.

He did dive at his feet, but he did not grab him in any way. There is no rule against blocking low in this situation. Since he didn't grab, no holding, so the right call to not throw the flag.

Blocking Below The Waist (9-1-6)

a. Team A prior to a change of team possession:

Consider a low-blocking zone seven yards on each side of the snapper extending five yards beyond the neutral zone and back to Team A’s end line (Rule 2-3-7 and Appendix D).

1. The following Team A players may legally block below the waist inside this zone until the ball has left the zone: (a) players on the line of scrimmage completely within this zone at the snap and (b) stationary backs who at the snap are at least partially inside the tackle box and at least partially inside the frame of the body of the second lineman from the snapper.

2. Players not covered in paragraph 1 (above) while the ball is still in the zone, and all players after the ball has left the zone, are allowed to block below the waist only if the force of the initial contact is from the front, but they may not block below the waist if the force of the initial contact is from the side or back. “From the front” is understood to mean within the clock-face region between “10 o’clock and 2 o’clock” forward of the player being blocked.

3. Once the ball has left the zone a player may not block below the waist toward his own end line.

LOL

My gawd, you guys are sounding like Clown fans, the REFs had little to nothing to do with the loss. Hawk fans are better than this, blame the coaches like fans of respectable programs do:).
Nobody is blaming the refs for our own malfunctions. If we were like the clowns we would be calling for a conspiracy against the Hawks. Nothing wrong with a little discussion.

Yeah, when a blocker blocks low with a clean block the feet and legs of the tackler are knocked backwards out from under him. Only saying this because Jewell' feet didnt move because they were held and locked up so jewell's butt went backwards while his upper body and head went forward. Just like a single or double leg wrestling take down.

I was joking...... you are just still mad about my field hockey remark.

I wish this thread would die. The game isn't fun to analyze. A coach should only have 1 of these type losses in their career. Talking about against baaaaad teams. Maybe a couple. By P5 standards NDSU is not really a top 30 team. It's totally ridiculous.
