NCAA proposal would radically alter wrestling championships

Wow. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I would think that allowing dual championship points to carry over into the individual championships would favor Iowa tremendously.

Not really, I don't know how the scoring will/would be but lets say it is like individual scoring for the top 8 teams (16,12,9,7,5,3,2,1). Say Iowa gets upset and gets 4th (like last year) and Penn St wins it. Going into Thursday morning of the individual tournament PSU already has a 9 point lead on Iowa before a single match is wrestled. A 9 point lead would almost be impossible to make up.

Sure it would be impossible to give PSU a nine point lead, but they're not going to get a 9 point lead against Iowa at the start. The way they compile their teams is with a few elite athletes and good wrestlers throughout. This will really help the well balanced teams like Iowa, Minny, and Ok St against teams who do well at the individual tourny with a small amount of wrestlers, i.e. PSU and Cornell.
