Not strange, but that's almost exactly what it boils down to. Which is why I don't like it. They're more than happy to make exceptions for the national brands or anything they can make a buck on.

Why was the jersey on the bench option #2? It was such a better gesture than putting his name on everyone's jersey, which would have been ridiculous.

I'll rephrase. Military stuff, patriotism, blah blah blah. That all flies pretty much without question. After that, they pretty much cater to the brand names, or something that would get quite a bit of exposure (Jimmy V unis during Jimmy V week). Iowa honoring Chris Street? Nobody really cares outside of the Iowa fanbase.
