NCAA.com preseason top 25 (Iowa #22)

22. IOWA
Iowa brings back QB Nate Stanley (2,852 yards, 26 TDs) and should have a strong 1-2-3 at running back with Mekhi Sargent, Toren Young and Ivory Kelly-Martin. T.J. Hockenson, the John Mackey Award winner as the top tight end in the country, might not be back. Fellow TE Noah Fant is gone. But A.J. Epenesa (16.5 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks) could get All-America honors.

After looking at next seasons schedule I will be thrilled if they finish ranked in the top 25.

I suppose it could happen if the offense takes a step forward and the defense can be somewhat as good as it was last season. The defense has a lot of holes to fill.

I know NW somehow won the B1G West, but the general assumption among all sports media is that the West is Wisconsin's to lose every single season.
That is, until someone in the West rises up and knocks them from that mantle 2-3 times in a row.
Say what you want about Nebby and Minny - our arch B1G enemy truly is Wisconsin and will continue to be until we can GET THAT DAMN MONKEY OFF OUR BACK!

GO HAWKS!

Next year we quiet Camp Randall. Hey Phil Parker...note to self....blitz Hornibrook every play and he'll fold....

Another year that the West should be for the taking.

Bring back most of a good pass blocking OL with lots of potential for improvement in the run game.

3 RBs with good game experience, 2 of which were solid most of the year. Also bringing in a possible game-changer in Goodson.

WRs that have been steadily improving, though thin.

TE takes a huge hit, but the factory keeps churning so we should expect at least solid blocking and at worst a safety valve for Stanley.

3rd year Sr QB, who has shown flashes of brilliance. Needs that final jump in consistency. Has all the physical tools.

PP still mans the defense, with tons of experience at LB, lots of youth and some experience in the secondary, and a one-man wrecking crew in AJE.

Wiscy loses a good chunk of the "best OL in the nation" and has yet to find a QB. NW loses Thorson which will be huge, IMO. Nebby is still at least a year away, as is Minny, and Purdue loses quite a bit.

If Iowa can keep from finding ways of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, we have a chance to flip the script from 2018.

No doubt. Wisky has won the vast majority of the West and other divisional named titles. The hawks missed their chance this year and of course QB Horni had his best game of the year which might have been caused a bit by Iowa not really going after him.
