NCAA Basketball in Iowa

As a die-hard Hawkeye fan growing up in Iowa, I detested the Cyclones. I now live in Minnesota. My dislike for things red and yellow has transformed into things maroon and gold. I grew up watching Lute, Raveling, and Mr. Davis coach the Hawks. Johnny Orr WAS ISU. I am excited for the state of Iowa to get back on the map and become relevant when it comes to the big dance. UNI did us proud this year, and Drake had a cup of coffee a few years back that was kind of nice, but the big dogs gotta get back and eat. From 1985-2005 both the Hawks and Clones made the NCAA's in the same year on 10 occasions. In 2005, the Panthers joined the Hawks and ISU. The state of Iowa continues to develop division I talent. Now that it appears the Hawks and Cyclones may be on the right path, I'm excited to sit back and be a fan. I think Coach Caff "gets it" and has a solid plan in place. It will be interesting to see how the Mayor does, but how can you not like such a class act? There finally seems to be excitement/hope when it comes to the state of basketball in Iowa. Go Hawks!
