I'll play devil's advocate here. I don't know if they review plays like this, but could it be that before he technically launched into the front flip, the ball breaks the plane? I tried pausing the video and when he's getting ready to leap he's really leaning forward with the ball way out in front of him. I wonder if they concluded he crossed the plane before the somersault because they did flag the flip itself.
I have only seen highlights...would have loved to see that from the pylon cam. I dont recall of they use replay to dictate where the ball goes on infractions like that.Did he change his stride before the end zone?
Somebody should send the clips of both to the NCAA officials and ask for some clarification.
