Now that Versus is rebranded as NBC Sports, does anyone think they could give Fox Sports and to a lesser extent ESPN some competition. They are the Network for NHL and MLS, Mountain West and i think they might be vying for the Big East contract. These contracts are small potatoes, but i think it is a great start and it may loosen the death grip the Mothership has on sports.

Also it looks like they are moving some Notre Dame Games to this channel in the future.

No. This is a way to make the VS/NHL brand more visible. The majority of their sports programming centered around the NHL, but unless you had VS and/or knew where it was on your system, you wouldn't even know the games were on unless you're a die-hard fan. EVERYONE knows what NBC is.

I said to a lesser extent ESPN. Obviously they would be 3rd out of the three, but the fact that their could be 3 is big news IMO.

At this point, my cable system doesn't even offer Versus as a HD station.
