NBA

Lol. Worded that wrong but you got the point about the washed up guys. DeAndre Jordan will have a huge year. West maybe weak enough this year where they make a run but will see.

Early take on the NBA is that the Heat look ready to rock, and OKC is the favs in the west. That is off of day one. There are another 127 days.
Some entertaining games today. Melo was unconscious,Kobe was sublime, Lebron was overpowering,as was Wade,DRose was clutch and CPaul took over late.
BB is a league of stars, but the ones that mesh with the rest of their teams the best win rings. Hopefully that will be DRose.
The good thing is free NBA package with DirectTV for two full weeks!

The only person that can stop Kevin Durant is Russell Westbrook. If Westbrook plays like he did in the playoffs last year the Thunder aren't going anywhere. If he matured and looks to defer to Durant and his teammates more and doesn't turn the ball over the Thunder will be tough to beat.

Just scanning through this thread underscores the reason the strike (well, lockout) was SO poorly timed for the league. Look how much excitement people have right now - there is just an abundance of young blood an up & coming teams across the league. The playoffs were awesome and left everyone really psyched for the start of the next season...just tragic...as an NBA fan, I really hope this doesn't set them back too far, because I think this league is right on the cusp of making a mainstream comeback.

in a glass half full kind of way, this shortened 66 game season could bring a different level of excitement that we arent thinking about. the marathon stretches, later trade deadline and shorter season could be good for the league, as long as the level of play doesnt suffer too much . Many feel that the 82 game schedule is too long anyway.

Could make for a wild playoffs as well. I think some of the older teams (Lakers, Celts, Spurs) will just shoot for a playoff spot and not worry about their seed in order to save some of their older player's legs for the post season. Also this season could really benefit a team like the T'wolves with a lot of young guys, they will probably steal a few wins just by having young legs going against a team on a back to back to back.

I think the season should start every year at Christmas. I'm all for pushing the NBA farther in to the summer so the playoffs can cut in to the tedium that is July sports.

(and hopefully this woudl mean the end of the WNBA)

Look at this.....a thread where everyone is respectable and we are having a good convrsation. These are few and far between anymore.

I'm a little miffed that DISH network does not have NBAtv in HD like Directv does. Watching me some Jimmer Fredette though. The Stormin Mormon.

I know it's just one game, but is Minnesota maybe possibly going to be a decent team this year? They will be fun to watch if nothing else and I think they're going to steal some wins just by having lots of young legs when they catch teams on the second or third night of a back to back.

If Beasley stops shooting 12 times a quarter maybe. Rubio is fun to watch.

Free NBA Package for the first two weeks of the year is great for catching up with teams new rosters, and the rookies.

And yes, I was pretty impressed with the T-Wolves last nite. Rubio seems to already have a lot of fans..lot of #9 jerseys in the house. If Wes Johnson and Darko play well, I think they have a critical mass with Beasley,Berea,Love ect..to be competitive.
Berea and Rubio in the backcourt may not guard well, but fun to watch.
