4. Iowa -- Many folks, including myself, wrote off Iowa’s 9-0 start to the 2009 season to some lucky bounces, fortunate turnovers, and inferior Big Ten conference play. After seeing the Hawkeyes dismantle and destroy the high powered Georgia Tech offense in the Orange Bowl, I realized it’s time to stop hating on the Hawkeyes. This was a damn good team and should be an even better team in '10.

Returning Stars: QB Ricky Stanzi, DE Adrian Clayborn, WR Marvin McNutt
Key 2010 Out of Conference Game: Sept. 18 at Arizona
Best Case 2010 Scenario: Clutch quarterback Ricky Stanzi emerges as a Heisman contender in his senior season, guiding the Hawkeyes offense to a flawless season with wins in Iowa City over Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Ohio State. After holding court in those four home games, the Hawkeyes earn the respect of the voters and qualify for their first BCS title game.
Worst Case 2010 Scenario: Stanzi struggles to stay healthy, the offense falters without Bryan Bulaga manning the left tackle spot, and the defense can’t live up to expectations without Pat Angerer manning the middle. Iowa loses to Penn State at home early in the season, then falls to Wisconsin and Ohio State in Iowa City later on.

The thing I'm least worried about is someone stepping in for Angerer or Bulaga. I also feel a bit better about our QB situation with know that he have a capable back up with big game experience.

ISU hasn't scored a touchdown against Iowa in 3 1/2 games, and Arnaud ***** himself on the big stage. Plus, the game is at Kinnick, and ISU hasn't won there since...2002. Iowa laid an egg the last time they went West, but a loss there would do less to hurt Iowa than a home loss to ISU would.
 
Wow. Hawks go from no respect from most of the national media to a preseason date in the national title game. I guess this is why KF doesn't pay attn to this kind of stuff. But it is fun for us fans to read during the long offseason! :D
 
“Way Too Early” BCS Bowl Projections:

National Title Game: Alabama vs. Iowa
Rose Bowl: Ohio State vs. Oregon
Sugar Bowl: Florida vs. Nebraska
Fiesta Bowl: Boise State vs. Texas
Orange Bowl: Pittsburgh vs. North Carolina

His Rose Bowl prediction can't happen. If Iowa was in the National Title game that would mean they won the Big Ten and get the automatic bid to the Rose Bowl, however the Rose Bowl doesn't get Iowa as they go to the National Title game and starting next year if the Rose Bowl loses the Big Ten or Pac 10 champ to the title game then they have to take a non-automatic qualifier that is eligible which would be Boise St. So it would probably be Boise St/Oregon in the Rose and Ohio St/Texas in the Fiesta.

Shows you how much repect I have for Arizona. If they played in the Big Ten they would be competing with Illinois, Indiana and Purdue for a spot in the basement in my opinion.

Either way, it's in their building, and you know Stoops will want to get a win against his old team. A win over Arizona will be a better barometer for how the rest of the season will play out than a home win over Iowa State.

Arizona is tough at home. They should have beat Oregon and beat USC at home this year. This won't be an easy game and really scares me.

This article is crazy stuff. This Peter Schrager was putting down the Hawks all season long. Wish I could remember the article he wrote about that ****** me off so much.
 
This is going to be a wild 8 months, all the talk about Nat'l title games, Heisman candidates...let's just all hope our Hawkeyes can live up to the expectations this fall...it almost gives me the chills thinking about all of this.

I've been telling people that this is my prepreseason prediction as well. I really like the chances of Iowa vs Alabama in the National Championship!
