National Duals brackets released

Should be a good tournament. Does anyone know why Iowa isn't part of it this year?
Are you serious or are you trying to bait someone into starting the "duck/dodge" discussion again. As a recipient of epic backlash on this topic previously, I'll simply state that Brands didn't feel it was best for his young team to participate. I assume that means he's trying to get them to peak in March and by partcipating in Nat'l Duals it might hurt their confidence level. Of course that didn't stop UNI, Northern Illinois, ISU, and South Dakota State from participating.

WHAT??? the hawks aren't in the national duals? when did this news break and why hasn't anyone on the internet discussed this?!?!?!

I have no problem with them not competing. I've never questioned Brands as he knows way more about it than I ever will. If it's because we have a young team and trying to peak at the right time...GREAT! It's just normally a pretty good tournament. Take a deep breath everyone!

So much for the Brands' willingness to go to any corner of the galaxy to find competition. He avoids it when it's on his doorstep 100 miles away.

Brands is willing to go anywhere to find competition. He must feel that his team isn't as willing. I'm thinking he's right after what happened at Midlands, at a couple of weights at least.

You can't say Brands is willing when it's his ultimate decision not to attend. He's not willing to go because his team won't win this year. As much as I hate ISU, props to KJ for taking his young team and helping to support a local nationally recognized tournament in the process.

I'm talking about Brands as an individual; do you know of a time that he has ducked competition personally? I agree with you that he's allowing his team to duck the National Duals, but he feels they are not ready. At the end of the day he can't wrestle for them, so if they're not ready than why go.

They aren't ready to win the tournament because they are young and inexperienced. Which option do you gain more experience from; wrestling a SIEU team that Iowa Central C.C. beat up on or wrestling D1 powerhouses at the duals? Brands is a good coach, but his decison was a blunder in my opinion. Not only does it take an opportunity away from his team to gain valuable experience against top ooponents, but it hurts a local tournament and a sport which is already struggling. I hope Iowa fans decide to attend the duals rather than give Brands the benefit by attending a meaningless Iowa-SIEU dual.

i think you'll see a lot of iowa fans there i know im planning on going to it unless something comes up
