National Dual Finals

Looks like its going to be Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, and OKState next weekend. I'm guessing the Hawks will get a #2 seed and have Minnesota out of the gates.

I think you're right DesertHawk. Whether Iowa is #2 or #3 they should face Minny first. Only bummer is they've already faced these 3 teams with 2 wins and a tie. If they win they should face OSU and if they lose they'll most likely face Illinois.

What's Gambrall's status? We either need another Ramos win or Lofthouse to beat Perry. I don't think we will get majored at HWT again. Might be worth having Rasing wrestle because he seems harder to score against.

Gambrall is supposed to be at 184 this weekend for the finals. What are the chances of him upsetting Steinhaus? That would be a great first match at 184 (similar to Marion's initial match last season at Penn State).

I see him struggling in his first couple matches adjusting to the lower weight. I hope that he has been wrestling close to this weight for awhile so the cut doesn't take too much out of him.

Iowa Vs Minny -
Mcd beats Sanders - 3-0
Ramos beats Dard - 6-0
Marion beat Dard - 9-0
Ness beats kelly - 9-3
Moore beats ortiz 12-3
Evans MD Yohn 16-3
EL revenge over Storley 19-3
Stein dec GG - 19-6
Yohn dec Lira - 19-9
Nelson dec BT 19-12

The match that matters most is 174. I don't think Kelly gets majored this time around, and I don't think Stein will major GG. If Yohn would open up, I think he's get a major, but he doesn't open up much.

GG has been weighing in light and wrestling at 197. He had to do this to make the weight cut per NCAA rules. I think he'll be fine from a weight cutting standpoint since he's already been weighing in and wrestling heavier opponents. The question is how sharp will he look against those "quicker & weaker" 184lb guys?

Thanks to those who posted updates yesterday. I didn't get a chance to look at anything until late last night and i was impressed with what appeared to be an aggressive team effort even though we seemed to have a bit of a lull in the 2nd dual. I think GG will have an interesting day given he has been wrestling the slower 97lbrs. Hope he is ready to adjust. Will need a big day out of likes of Lofthouse, Evans, Kelly, and DSJ if wrestling.

Is it going to be a tournament format for the Final Four? I was hoping for a round robin setup. (classic "quad meet" format) cause if you have, presumably, the four best teams together why not add one extra dual?
