Nate Stanley is a.....

Dumb is harsh, but I think it is fair to say he seems to play slow— that the game is fast for him. Some athletes just think/react faster. I think that is his challenge.
not making plays is one thing, but he goes into plays where he does the one thing he should never do. I can’t come to any conclusion other than he just isn’t able to think.

In my preseason picks. I picked Iowa 10-2 with losses to Wisconsin and Penn State.

Stanley is good. He just doesn't have that extra bit.
Stanley is good against awful teams. That PSU team is not good, Stanley was absolutely awful. Who can't play well against Minnesota, Indiana, Maryland?

Penn State did everything they could to give us the win. Stanley just wouldn't have it. Nate needs to sit and we need to see what our offense looks like with Mansell for the remainder of the year. Stanley is milquetoast out there.

It really stood out to me... the interception down in the red zone in the 4th was unexcusable.. It's too big of a moment.

Calling Effing timeout... the lack of mental acuity on that play was monumental

I'm going with GOAT...the animal, not the greatest player of all time. An eighth grader could make many of the throws he had today. Seriously...the Hockenson throw is one that you really can only screw that up one way...air mailing it...and Nate found a way to throw it not 2 yards over his head...about 10 yards. He just need to throw it on a line...no air...just throw it to the spot. He's a college QB for crying out loud.

I'm sorry, but I would have given Mansell a shot today.

Stanley plays super tight when we huddle. Iowa needs to go more up tempo for the entire game. Not necessarily a hurry up but don't huddle and make some easy throws to get him in a rhythm to start the game. This game in particular he zeroed in on a specific receiver too much and several times missed the check down to the back or a few times to the tight end. We also did not take any shots down field to loosen them up which I think hurt.

I also think he has been coached to throw some of the balls low and out of danger from defenders, which I am not disagreeing with, but when he gets rattled he over throws and throws so low no one can make the play. Again, I don't know why we don't roll him out more and give him the chance to pass or run on some of the shorter yardage downs.

I thought we ran the ball well, passed blocked well, and played good enough defense to win but QB play really hurt us today

But "good" qbs are hardly as erratic as this guy. He has flashes of excellencee but when your team has thr advantgae and your emplore your will to lose like he did, you are not "good". You are a head case.

But its the coaches fault they didnt sniff this out and be prepared for operation self destruct.

He's fucking worthless and I never want to see him in an Iowa uniform again. He single handedly lost us this game with his bullshit middle school level play.
And it wasn’t just a couple plays. That fucker under or over threw everyone, and from his first intentional grounding penalty I knew he was going to F us over. The rest of the team left it all out there but he fucked us. Nate Stanley isn’t mentally able to play B1G ball at even an above average level.

Let him transfer somewhere and start the next chapter of Iowa football. Even if Mansell sucks it won’t be worse than what we have now. Stanley should not be a Hawkeye after this game. Nothing but mental errors all day.

He cost us:

7 pts on the INT

7 pts when Hockenson was wide open

7 or 3 on the last int

We only lost by 6, guys. Stanley singlehandedly fucked us for 21 pts. That’s enough to hit the pine for the year.

This game was OURS for the taking.
Stanley hurt us so bad today. Horrible coaching move to not sit him down and play P. Mansell in 2nd half.
I'm physically sick for the first time since Pasadena.

Or at the least dont expect fant to be able to read his mind, if didnt wanna spend the TO try to run it in since your team has no idea what the play is yet.

The guy just doesn't play smart football out there. He can make good throws here and there but for whatever reasons he made 5 bad ones for every 1 good one today. His clock management was terrible. Not throwing to our TEs earlier in the game more was just not smart. They are our best players for peats sake. Some of what went on was coaching too. We could have called a TO instead of rushing to throw that pick on that 2nd to last possession. Coaches should have done it when they saw Stanley start trying to audible with like 5 seconds left.

Coaches made some dumb decisions too. Most of note to me was at the end of the half why on earth would you not punt that? That was just beyond dumb we pin them inside the 20 and they aren't even going to try moving the ball with under a min to go at that point. With all the dumb things and bad plays that happened we were still in it to the last snap. Not sure we deserved to be but we were. Ugh..

At least I get it, he put us in position to win. Noah calling that play off isn't his job

Noah wasn't calling the play off.. he was signalling the play that Stanley called.

stanley waved his arms ... then fant waved his arms to the outside reciever.

But Stanley stepped back and fired the ball before anyone was rdy.
