Does anyone else think this kid has a shot at seeing some touches in the backfield? I know he played at as small a level of Iowa hs ftball. there is pretty much. But the kids size style of play and from what tape I've seen of him remind me of Coker. I'm not saying I think he'll be the bell cow when it's all said and done necessarily but he's getting a shot at rb. If he is athletic and fast enough to play rb then doesn't he bring something the rest of them don't? I saw he's being listed at 235. Just a thought.

I would say he has a shot if our current running backs keep getting busted for weed and trying to outrun the cops

I don't see why not, hes a big strong kid, But hes going to have a steep learning curve these next 2 years I would imagine.

For sure he'll have to be coached up. There are two major things you can't coach. Size and speed. He's got size. His legs are tree trunks. I could see him get goal line and short yardage touches early on if he shows in practice he won't put the ball on the ground.

I would love to see this guy putting the hurt on defenders. Probably won't happen, but he will have a chance to see what he can do.

I'm assuming he doesn't get bigger obviously. That he doesn't switch over to D. If the kid has more ambition to play rb than Coe did/does than I wouldn't be shocked if he gets a look this year. Coe couldn't back away from the buffet it sounds like. Not to mention he was a basket case that we prolly dodged a bullet on having been eligible right out of the gate. Here's a video of Meier I found

I'm thinking DE as well. Although if he does RS and doesn't have too much more natural growing, MLB could be a possibility as Morris will be gone by Meier's RS SO season.

I was at the Dome for the title game against Murray last year, and I was blown away. Meier is the most dominating high school tailback I've ever seen in person. Not the best, but most dominating. I swear, he was brought down to the turf like four times in the game; he had plays where his forward progress was stopped, but rarely did he actually go down.

The big thing that made him so great is his feet. Very quick, and they never stop pumping. And I love his attitude on the field. He just wants to dominate his opponent.

Reminds me a little bit of former NFL, Wash Redskin, John Riggins. Most of you kids are too young to remember Riggins, but he was NFL mvp about 1983

zero chance. he prolly red shirts this year beings as he has to learn a new position. hell he has to learn a whole new game.

I was surprised that he was given uniform #34. Doesn't seem like a number to give a guy you plan on moving away from RB.

IIRC, I'd heard he would get a look at RB, because that's what he wants to play. I think he'll ultimately move, but the coaches nearly always let guys like that have a shot at the position they want to play. Sometimes they stick, most often they don't.

At the very least, the kid could be an outstanding FB. It's not like we have a lot of depth at either the FB or RB position. I think just based on team needs it would be wise to keep him in the backfield this year. That doesn't mean you have to change his mentality to put weight on if you think he's going to end up on defense down the road. It's not like he's going to balloon to 260 or 270 overnight.
