Naked bootleg

What are the chances of KOK calling a naked bootleg pass? We ran it quite often last year for huge results. We have been afraid to run it ever since Stanzi got hurt last year. It went for a lot of HUGE gains last year.

Why not run it against NW? A kind of "in your face". It would be the last thing NW would think of. Does KOK have the balls to do something like this?
 


I don't think the coaches are going to let the outcome of one play last season dictate our playbook. If it looks like it is there, we'll run it.
 


That's a staple play of our offense, so I'm sure we'll run it like we always do. Like CallMeDragon said, we won't let the outcome of one play dictate what we run, so I don't think we'll be scared to use it if we get the right looks.

Just an FYI...the play Stanzi was injured on wasn't a naked boot. He had blockers to the play side, but one or both of them didn't hold the block long enough.
 


didn't we run the naked boot vs EIU and Stanzi buckled and hurt is leg/ankle or something, then Vandy came in for a series before Stanzi took over again?

I guess it depends if they think they will keep their hands off of Stanzi's facemask this time. Also, Wooton is gone, which helps.
 


those plays are just simple play action pass, not naked boot legs. As other poster said the play from last year on injury was not a nekked leg, just poor blocking.
 


Then what is a naked bootleg? This is what I call it. Please explain to me what a naked bootleg is, since i must be a complete idiot. CubbyHawk, you always **** on everyones post, with nothing new, but a critic!! You have no original thoughts!!!

Oh to be as wise as cubby hawk someday!! Maybe if he criticizes everyone more often , I may learn to be as smart as he!! (It's a freakin naked bootleg. This means the QB rolls unprotected. Of course people on the line are blocking, but there are no blocks downfield you jackwagon!!)

You came off a little defensive in that other post...a naked bootleg is simply a bootleg where there are no blockers to the side being booted to. For example, if last year's play would have been a naked bootleg, nobody would have blocked Wootten (sp?). But we did have a guy on him; in fact, we had both Reisner and Morse IIRC...but they both held the block for a brief instant, then released into their routes.

**Edit - If anything, it had more Waggle tendancies to it than Boot. But that's just semantics...

Yes. I think that scared the coaches away from it more than a little bit. Plus, the tackles have been playing really well so far and giving him plenty of time. Not as much need to take a risk by putting him outside the pocket. In addition, Ricky has developed a much stronger pocket presence this year (see the big run against MSU) so I don't know if it's as important to get him on the outside as it has been.

Naked just means that you don't have any linemen out in front of you leading.

seriously?...........another internet tough guy, gimme a break. How do you figure all I do is ****** on everyone's posts, I only have 60 some posts, have you read them all. I'm not going to get into an argument with my computer screen.

Yeah, cause the Bandit, and the Snowman for that matter, are EXCELLENT blockers when it comes to "screens" and "play-action" deals. But in a "naked" bootleg situation.... I want nothing but my birthday suit, the football in my right arm, and a clearly confused defense in front of meeeee. And a truck load of Coors behind the practice field tooooo.
