Despite the 30 that Matty Fresh put up, can't forget about the game BASAAAAAAAAABE played. Ton of energy today, showed some good post moves, and really affected IU on the defensive end. Good to see him play so well.

Your slime is Spicy

Melsahn did an outstanding job of making his moves instead of forcing them and he brought a TON of energy early...it was outstanding to see "that" Mel make an appearance again...welcome back, Melsahn!?!?

I caught his interview with Dolph after the game. First time I've heard him speak. Seems like a really good kid. Not sure what his deal is this year but he seems to have figured it out. He said he altered his pre-game stuff a bit and felt like he was ready to give the energy right away. He also said something about he isn't going to worry about having a good game or not and is going to just go out and have one. Make it happen or something along those lines. Um, yeah.

I have this feeling with Mel, that he will have a good JR. year and then a great SR. year and when we are dancing we're going to see some CBS pregame segment about him talking about how his head just wasn't there his sophomore year and all this stuff.

What I'm trying to say is that I think he'll bounce back and have a great career. He's just having some issues mentally this year. He's a good athlete and once his head is on straight he'll recover.

Agree. Remember, he is just a sophomore. Keep working, Mel, you are going to be a great player!!!!

You got this from hearing him on the radio?

Basabe's play made me forget Zeller was in the game...well, except when Mel was on the bench.

Hopefully, he really does have his head right.

If Gatens & Mel can maintain their level of play, this Iowa team still has a chance to do some damage the rest of this year and in the BTT.

Mel played very well all around, but to me the high point of his effort was the second block in the sequence in the early minutes where he up so high he looked like he was jumping over the backboard. The first block was great, but the second one was off the charts. I thought for sure they would call goal tending, but he managed to get it just before it started heading down. That was a truly impressive athletic feat. And how about his nice little hooks off the glass? Reminds me of Magic back in the day.

Actual post moves. I loved it.

Basabe is a different player when he makes decisions quickly. Last night he got the ball where he wanted it, felt the defender on his hip and made his move. When it wasn't there, he seemed more aware of his surroundings and kicked it back out. When he has struggled he either doesn't work for position, or he gets the ball out of position and tries to dribble himself into a better one, which typically leads to problems.

His legs looked very fresh last night and his "spring" seems to have returned based on the possession he had 2 blocks back to back.

Can you tell what kind of guy I am just by reading what I say on these forums?

That is why I used the word "SEEMS". And it wasn't just the way he answered the questions it was Dolph and Bobby giving their impression of him as well because they are around him a lot.

And yes I can read you like a book.:)
