My run in with Taylor Martinez' dad Casey & his licensing company

OK4P is definitely on to something with whether or not the terms are market. If Nebby charges everyone else 20% royalty to use Nebby marks, there could be a real NCAA issue there.

Also, it would be interesting to know the terms of the licensing agreement from Taylor (the confirmed owner of the mark) to Casey's operating entity (granted, I am making a presumption on the business structure and ownership).

Finally, as a side note, Taylor should probably own the mark in a limited liability company for asset protection and risk mitigation purposes.

I think Iowa charges around 8-10% royalty fee to use their copyrighted logos...I think that is fairly standard.

Wouldn't it be an ncaa violation for Taylor to own a company selling Nebraska merchandise as a Nebraska player? Maybe that has already been addressed in the thread or article.

Yes gdi still sells corn fed gear. If I remember correctly he purchased the exclusive rights to print and sell/distribute corn fed Iowa gear.

Why even try to remember things correctly? You have a Smart Phone to do that sort of heavy lifting for you.

An extra side note to this thread...I got on to *******.com and took a look at the University wear....My gosh ISU has ugly apparel. That is all.

All you have to do is submit your Hawkeye product that you want to sell and they will look over it and see if its something that is of the best interest of the University to sell. Your figure is about right according to a marketing professor I once had.
BTW, the Owner of the Tigerhawk is or was Hayden Fry who licensed it to the University. I do recall when he retired he might have sold it to the University.

That being said Jon, do you pay a license to use Iowa Hawkeye or have HawkeyenNation trademarked the term as part of this website?
