MY QUESTION IS...

Execution. The last two games and the other two losses were not well played. Usually we NEVER beat ourselves.

Correct. Considering that we normally play to the level of our competition, we usually don't have a very large margin for error when it comes to stupid penalties and poor execution. It's not like Northwestern just takes it to us when they play us. They just seem to play smarter and more opportunistic. They make plays and we tend to step on our ****.

Even on the last drive of the game today, we dropped at least 3 passes. Every loss Stanzi has taken a sack or multiple sacks on our potential game winning drives.

I understand the success with execution, physical play and strong work ethic but we seem to be putting ourselves behind the 8 ball with such a conservative offensive and defensive scheme. We have to execute to near perfection to beat any team. Just seems like we need to become a little more complex with our schemes on both sides of the ball to avoid this?

Well, you asked how we've had success and that is how. We've played a pretty good schedule and go back something like four years since we've lost a game by more than a touchdown. That means we've had a good chance to win those games and when you don't, it's damn frustrating!
