My favorite part about the MD game...

...was the way we kept running the offense even when we needed to kill the clock. Sure we'd dribble around the top of the key for 5-10 seconds first, but then we actually started setting screens and getting good looks. I hate it when teams focus so hard on draining the shot clock that they end up getting a terrible shot up as the shot clock expires.

That's good coaching. And it helped us win the game.

Iowa's conditioning and bench depth were significant last night, too. Maryland was gassed with about 5 minutes left in the game.

My favorite part was when Whitey got blocked at the rim. Grabbed the ball and stuffed it again.

The look on the defenders face was priceless. The Iowa crowd went crazy and he was all like, "What happened to my block?"

Also a classy move to let the time run out and not shoot at the end.

Favorite play... Basabe dunk on the baseline.

Whitey's block on a 3-point attempt near the corner as Maryland was mounting a comeback, and then forcing the Terp player to lose the ball out of bounds in front of their bench.

I enjoyed the fact that Iowa was in the right spots most of the night, esp vs Maryland's press.
Iowa scouted the Terps well and executed too.

I enjoyed the Iowa guys getting after loose balls, great hustle, and an even more great will to win than the Terp's...gotta bring it one more game fella's

It Had to be Basabe's tomahawk dunk on the big man Lin! Thats was awesome! And it set the tone early in the game for the Hawks.

I don't remember another team pressing Iowa from the start. The team seemed a little rattle at first but recovered quickly.

Listening to Raftery. Love him!!

I was actually hoping Iowa would lose the jump ball so he could say "straight up man to man" while the Hawks were playing defense.

I would have liked to have heard just one, "take it to the tin!" out of Raftery.
