My 2011 notes for Kirk

7. Send your best letter of recommendation to get KOK a head coaching job somewhere.
8. Get a offensive coordinator that runs an innovative offense that does not just include 10 plays on a matchbook.
9. Don't blow the DC hire.

YES!!!!
I agree with #9 the most.

So let me get this straight, it is ok to have a dreadful offense and defense, poor special teams, questionable game / time management and personnel decisions from a head coach with 13 years of experience who is making $4M?

Other than every phase of the game being sketchy, we are set for 2012.

#46 scoring defense isn't the Top 20 we've grown accustomed to, but isn't "dreadful" either. I don't disagree about the chronically underperforming offense or 3 straight years of lousy special teams, formerly a strength. Or the chronic game/clock mgmt issues.

I believe strongly in the old management saying "I will ignore an incident, I will attack a pattern". I think Kirk is a terrific coach, and am not concerned by an occasional down year in some aspect - but am disappointed he is not attacking chronic problems like ST and sideline management.

One of the staff's newer members told a mutual friend last year that Iowa's sideline is "chaotic" compared to other places he's worked. So it's not just us dumba$$ message board people noticing a problem there.

Good points Billso. I am not blaming the D one bit, just for the record. The offense is a joke and it doesn't matter if we recruit the next Andrew Luck and put 4 4 star WR's on the field. KF and KOK think we are some power running team and obsess over imposing our will on teams while they run and pass all over us. Great, Coker got his 100 yards on 34 carries and we scored 3 points. NE, MSU, PSU and OU games were reflective of how incapable these guys are of scheming for teams that aren't in the bottom 10% of defenses.
