I’ve said it before, it’s recruiting coming to roost from the Brian years. We were a national laughing stock and that has a huge effect, I don’t care what anyone says. I said it was going to happen back then and it is now

As a general impact, definitely. In the case of DBs, I'm not so sure. Most of Phil's best defensive backs were low stars and/or lightly recruited.

I would guess that it's probably more of a "regression to the mean" situation. Phil has hit on quite a few diamonds in the rough over the last several years. Eventually, your bound to miss on some.
