Mulvey with a great game

It will be difficult to even make the Big Ten Tournament. They are 6 and 10 and tied with two other teams. They have three road games and one home game. @Ill, @NW, @Neb, MSU at home. They have been hanging in there but the close lost to Oregon was a killer. If they do survive they probably have a play in game.

Traore and Thelwell sure didn't play alot after starting the game!
Injuries? Seems likely this days. Thelwell for sure.

Mulvey, who made 3 really incredible plays, brought the house down and fired up the team late in the game. Brauns, really helped us, and the crowd response was great. Also, Kingsbury, 6’5” and a linebacker build, played the 4- 5 spot and stopped some Wash bigs in their tracks. And did it without excessive fouls. This game was amazing to watch, and not just because of the win.

The effort was amazing, again.

BTW. Fran kicked the official’s asses frequently the first half. Then, If I recall correctly, Wash was at 7, then 10 fouls with lots of time left in the second half. And we made a bunch of free throws. And yes, Josh and Payton got mugged repeatedly.

I didn't get to watch the entire game, but I did see Fran getting on the refs in the first half. The charge that Mulvey took, took some courage. The referees missed some travel calls. I usually don't complain about the refs, but this wasn't the best crew.

Overall, I think the team held up against a team they were physically over matched. Kingsbury has the body to defend and he did a good job.

Carter is built exactly like his daddy. 6’5, thick, muscular, doesn’t quite shoot it like his old man, but the body types are exactly the same.

Carter played 29 minutes, so I am guessing it was a career high for him.

Any idea why he played so much last night? Is it a message to the other guards or is he showing signs of improvement?

Great question and I was wondering the same thing. Did he earn the minutes or was it because they literally had no one else?

He came into the game before Pryce. Also Thelwell had already had some no minute games from injury and Kingsbury didnt play that much. Something definitely changed. Matchup maybe?

Fran back or not, we have no idea what this roster is going to look like next year. Personally, I am okay with Mulvey sticking around if he wants to stick around. I think he would be a great bridge guy moving forward.

He will be a 8 and 4 guy(points and rebounds) being a starter playing 20 minutes a game next year. No one will confuse him with Luka Garza, but we all can see him as a positive contributor next year, regardless of who the coach is.

What? We already know what Kingsbury is at this point. Is it just another indication that this is Fran’s last year? Was he just rewarding someone that gave his heart and soul to the program the last three years?

Possibly. They either needed his strength on the defensive end due to matchup, started playing way better in practice, a guard had a minor injury, was sending a message to other guards, or what you mentioned. Can't think of any other reason to change his minutes that drastically.
