MSU's Payne May be Out Another Couple Weeks

Normally I rather face a team at full strength, but I'd love to see them stay dinged up. Screw competitive spirit. If they're 100% when they come to Carver so be it, but I'd love to see drop a few games due to injury during the conference slate.

we have another chance to beat them at full strength at their place later in the season. So yeah, im happy with playing them short handed this time

No I dont want those thugs to have any excuse.

I want to win the B1G and as another poster said Iowa plays MSU the 2nd to last game of the year in East Lansing and I would imagine it would be senior day for them. MSU should be at full strength for that matchup.

Excuses don't go in the record books... we have just as much of a chance to have to deal with injuries as any other team. A win is a win is a win...

Agreed. There was no asterisk when MSU won the close game in Carver last year when Marble was out with a bad back. Winning over MSU if Payne is out doesn't make it any less of a win, except in some peoples' minds. Spartans are still a very salty team without him as they have proven by winning all the games he has been out.

I hate it when a teams best player is down. They spend half of the game with the camera on explaining how important he is to the team. Its pathetic.

I want to see Payne score 20 points and have Iowa beat them by 20.

Spartans got all the praise when they beat Iowa who played without Marble last year so I have no problem bragging about a win over MSU without Payne. Hawks had to play a whole non con slate without their best 3 point threat….yeah I said it;)

I was thinking Iowa -2 or 3 with MSU w/Payne and probably -5 or 6 without. 10 seems crazy, but Vegas loves the hawks this year.

I think we will be 4 or 5 point favorites with Payne, KenPom's prediction is Iowa 80-75 and the Vegas line is almost always within a point or two of that. Saw some Vegas power poll that had Iowa ranked 7th last week.

OK, I've got to be that guy. As great as competition is when two teams are 100%, I'd rather see the star of other teams injured. There's the potential to play king of the mountain for the top spot in the Big Ten. I want to win and simply don't care who we beat or who they're missing. We have a tough schedule this year and most likely will need the extra win along the way.

Do I want to see MSU at full strenght against Wiscy or Michigan? Yes. Will I be heart broken if Payne isn't playing against us? Not the slightest bit. If the announcers and the media want to emphasize the fact that we beat MSU without Payne when it's all said and done so what. They can put an asterix next to our Big Ten Championship for all I care the fact is it would still be a championship. No one cares down the road when you look back in history who was 100% health when they played. Injuries are part of the game and everyone deals with them.

I hope he is back and that the Hawks get MSU at full strenght. I really think with or without Payne Iowa can win...so may as well take them at their best.

Also, he is my favorite player in another uniform and would like to see him back. If you didn't catch this last year it is worth the time. WARNING!! After watching you may find it a bit harder to dislike the guy.

I get where you're coming from but I'm not sure if you were just making a general statement or do you think Payne is their best player?

I don't feel like he is. He's certainly their best big man but I'd probably put both Appling and Harris above Payne.

Anyways... it is what it is. We can't control the misfortunte of Sparty's latest wave of the injury/illness bug. All we can do is focus on us and get the W.

I think I saw the same poll (Top 30 Linemakers Poll). I need to pay for KenPom so I can get that info.
