Most disappointing season?

This is the most disappointing season under Ferentz in my mind. With preseason expectations, I will say this has to be the most disappointing I can recall.
 


It may very well be. 2006 is right there as well.. 1997 was disappointing too, but that year a QB injury was a big part of the problem.
 


To be honest, not quite. After last year's 10-2 season and the personnel losses we had faced after last season, I was thinking a 9-3 or 10-2 season wouldn't have been a disappointment. I know people were thinking NCG, but realistically, I wasn't thinking anything better than a Big Ten title.

However, what's disappointing, is HOW we've lost, and how we've played in those losses.
 






Yah....this isn't even close the most disappointing.

Sure it's disappointing to woefully underperform for reasons other than the quality of players that make up the team.....but at least we've won more than a handful.
 






This season had potential for greatness and that is the disapointing thing. 2006 was probably worse because(IMO) the team didn't care.

They could win 10 but would you bet on them beating OSU and a bowl opponent. I wouldn't. I would never bet on Iowa because of our conservative philosophies.

I was not thinking NC game this year but We should have been in the BCS and we are not.

Thats my point...doing a poll with 3 games to go is beyond worthless
 




Not even close. I predicted 9-3 and so I'm hoping that's what we get. We've had some bad seasons so I don't know how you can seriously put this season at the top. Regardless of preseason expectations. Maybe this will help some of our fans realize that preseason rankings don't mean ****.
I'm just don't understand what happened to our offense. It's like we mailed it in after the MSU game or something.
 


I really don't remember the 1997 team. But of Ferentz teams, whether this one is more disappointing than 2006 remains to be seen with the final two games.

At least we won't have a Western Michigan to lose to.
 




I want to see how it plays out. Hard for me to consider a nine win season the most disappointing (whether that is regular season on in a bowl game added on).
 


The most difficult individual experience I can remember feeling was the '05 game against ISU...nobody tried to win that game on our side and we got trounced. I feel a little like that about our season this year. I usually hope for Big Ten titles but I really thought we were good enough for the National title this year. This team is better than they have showed this season...maybe that's what is so sad about it.

Most dissapointing season is '05 and then it would be '97. '05 wins because it was just so bad. We didn't do anything that I was hoping for that year. '97 was better(by one game) but I wanted Timmy D to go out with a bang...yes we won the Alamo bowl against Hanspard that year, but I would have loved Timmy D to win one Big Ten title during his tenure. It was sad to see him leave without one.

Yes...it's times like these when it's hard to be a Hawkeye fan. I will keep on being a fan forever though. At least I can be certain of that.

Sorry, but a bowl game in this day and age just isn't a measuring stick for success, unless it's a BCS bowl. In fact, it's just the opposite. The lack of a bowl game invite is truly a shame, considering they take 6-6 and sub-.500 conference record teams.

Neither is a Jan-1 bowl. Used to mean something, but it doesn't.

I judge a season by our record, our schedule, AND the talent we have. We seeminly had it all this year. All the ingredients were there.

If the season ended now, yes, by far, this has been the most disappointing season for me. Ever. Going to the Outback Bowl isn't going to wipe the taste out of my mouth...not this year, not with the supposed talent level.
