Mossbrucker hurt?

Mossbrucker was doing just fine with his kicking duties until Kirk mind-****ed him and put in Murray instead to kick the field goal vs. PSU. That totally had to have ruined his confidence. He hasn't been the same since. I guess the low kicking that Mossbrucker has is the exact reason that Kirk used Murray instead for that kick.

I still think it was because Mossbrucker was a true freshman, and that was the biggest kick since '85.

There may be some truth to that, but I watched the replay of Mossbrucker's blocked PAT several times. I looked to me it was just a guy up the middle who simply jumped at the line of scrimmage and got the block. Nothing fancy, it happens on every FG attempt and PAT. The kick looked low to me and that is why it was blocked. I too think it was the last straw.

I actually hate to agree w/ you on this one, just b/c I don't like the idea of the Captain being known as playing mind games, but this is basically what I thought, also. I thought Mossbrucker was very good the majority of his true frosh season. KF went w/ Murray in the PSU pressure spot and I think most people would agree Mossbrucker has never been the same. Also, I concur w/ those that say there isn't a substantial difference btw Mossbrucker and Murray - both make and miss some mid-range FG's you would hope that they'd make. Just another aspect of ST that are seemingly problematic so far this season.

Wasn't he the kicker the next week too, and on our first two TD's he missed both extra points? I had a feeling at that point he was screwed between the ears...

In watching Murray and Mossbrucker warm up the last couple years, if anything Murray's kicks actually come out lower than Mossbrucker's, but when a kicker starts having confidence issues, it can do downhill fast.

I believe it was STATE who said he was down by the tunnel when the game ended against PSU, and Mossbrucker made a bee line to the locker room, did celebrate. Just walked down the tunnel, head down, alone. The moment Murray made that field goal, Mossbrucker's confidence just tanked. He's not been the same since that moment, and I fear he never will be. That was one decision that Ferentz may very well regret.
