Morris or Borland

I think they are pretty even but I think Borland is somewhat faster.

About all I have seen of Borland this year was first half against NW and he ran down colter and some other quick guys. Borland seems shorter with a lower center of gravity to stop runners.

I have seen Morris play much more and when he has that good dee line in front of him he can make a lot of plays all over the field, in a hole, coverage, zone drops and making picks, spying and blitzing. I take Morris just because he is a hawk,

Borland is better, more athletic, and just has a knack for finding the ball. Morris has had a much better year this year compared to last, but Borland is better.

Both players being Hawkeye's....I'd want to start Borland. Better instincts. Better at closing down angles. Just better. IMO. But since he plays for the Red Waste....he can go fly a friggin kite!!!

Borland might be a little better against the run. Guy has almost perfect tackling form.

Morris is Hawk though...so...Morris is better.

With my vote that makes it 4 Borland, 1 Morris (only because he is a hawk), and 1 push.

Interesting. As I said in the other thread I am not hating on Morris but focus on both of them Saturday and I think it will be easy to see.

Borland is better. Ideal MLB and fundamentally awesome. I was going full homer pick previously.

I like Morris because he goes wide damn open on every play. If you really pay attention you will notice that he never takes a play off. And ooh yeah he's a HAWKEYE!

I haven't seen much of Borland. Morris may not have the best physical stats but he has been in the right place at the right time during key plays a lot this year. that is something you can't coach

I think you'd be extremely hard pressed to find a play that Borland "took off" as well. He has as high of a motor as anyone in the country.

Right now, I think it's pretty clear Borland is a little better than James when he's on the field. The only thing anyone can fairly criticize Borland for is the fact he has been injury prone most of his career. That could end up having a major effect on whether or not he becomes what he's capable of at the next level. I do think James has every single tool that Borland has. James is just as fast and he has a little better size (Borland: 5'11 246 Morris: 6'2 240). Which also means I think the ceiling for James is as high if not higher than Borland's. If he can learn to diagnose plays a bit quicker then he'll develop that knack Borland seems to have where he's always in the right place at the right time.

I think Borland is better, BUT, our overall linebacking core is better than Wisky's. We have 3 talented guys that cover a lot of ground.

I just brought up because Hoffa made a comment that it was a complete no brainier comparison and, not knowing a ton about Borland, with janes recent success, just wondered how there could be that much difference between the two. Morris cracked the starting lineup as a freshman at a big ten school, ranks high on many defensive school record stats, two time player of week, Lott finalist, I didn't think Borland was waaaay better than him...not to mention, KF has said several times now that James is a very good player that will play for years in the league. Whatever you think about KF, he doesn't usually make statements like this. Makes me look at the issue of how good he is a little more.

I have seen both play quite a bit. (I watch B1G games over other conference games) They are both very good players. I think Borland gets more love and is statistically better because he has played behind much better D lines for most of his career. We have a much better view of what Morris can do this year because our Dline is eating up blockers instead of allowing them to get to the second level. It's hard for me to pick one over the other, but I have to give Morris the nod because he doesn't play for the Wisconsin.

Borland... It's really not that close. He may be the best player in the conference. He's fun to watch and is everywhere on the field.
