ESPN.com, Rapid Reaction to our win against NW.

The short article doesn't mention Iowa once. All it mentions is NW and how their season went south, and now they are going to fire Carmody. Like that is a story.....

Cmon ESPN

Honestly, there is no story in Iowa beating NW. It was supposed to happen and did. When we beat Michigan State I'm guessing the highlights will be shown for hours and we'll be getting all kinds of coverage all the way into our game Saturday.

Probably because it was most likely writtten by ESPN Chicago.

I listened to the game on a Champaign station. They carry a lot of B1G games. Iowa games are usually with Dolph but today it was NW. They had nothing but praise for Iowa's athleticism and tenacity. They discussed Fran's easy schedule not knowing how good they'd be, but other than that it was rather surprising. The color commentator missed the previous two games and was shocked at the athleticism.

The ESPN guys were talking about how fun it was to watch Iowa play and how they run more different things than other teams.

Now's the time to pound Sparty. They've lost 3 of last 5. They barely beat NW. The most overrated 3 seed ever.

We can beat Sparty...but we have to just shoot the ball well for an entire game. My god, I was wondering if Fran was ever going to find someone to make a shot in the middle of that zone...wide open with a 12-15 footer...you have to make 60% of those in college. That was ridiculous. When Basabe finally hit one, they had to guard the middle and it allowed Gesell's 3 to be wide open at a critical time.

We need a few people to get hot tonight and force MSU to extend. White and Basabe will be tough to handle down low with an extended defense. I'm sure Fran is going to try to get them in foul trouble. Without Nix and Paign they are not very deep.

What bothered me more was all the praise for that former Obama flunky want to be dictator Chicago crime boss that they called a mayor. If Espn praises such evil while and fires anyone that calls them out on it they are not worth my time.

Wrong forum for this crap.

I think officiating also will be a key part of tonight's games. The Dirty Izzos are capable of playing thug ball. If the officials put a stop to it early, I like Iowa's chances. If they don't, could be a long night.

We need to be aggressive and punch the bully in the mouth, before he knows what hit him.

Regardless of what you think of them, what were they supposed to say? "Wow, glad he's at the game so he can't screw things up any worse. Damn crooked politicians, anyway." It would be like mentioning drugs when they show Roy Marble or Prop48 when they show Glenn Robinson. They don't need to get themselves in trouble as announcers and they don't need to disrespect people that came to watch a game.

Thay don't need to say anything at all. Point taken about politics in this forum. On that point Espn should keep politics out of its sports coverage.

Actually, when they hold the camera on someone famous for that long, they do. Dead air is not a good thing, either.

Does Espn not hire the camera crews also?

Dude he's the mayor of Chicago at a college basketball game being played in Chicago. The cameras showed him in attendance.... what's the big deal? Talk about overreacting.

Back on topic, Iowa has known for quite some time now that they need to make it through the second round. Beating NW was just a stepping stone. They'll earn publicity if they can get a W tonight.
