Mitch Keppy is the new Iowa Commit

These are the type of players that make the Iowa offense roll. It will be nice to have a guard that is 6'5 300 pounds.

I think it will depend what other OLine recruits we get. Good to see a kid with some versatility. OT, OG, DT. It's nice to have that. You never know who is going to sign on the dotted line, and who is going to turn out where.

Grandpa Glenn was (Maybe still?) a big shot with the dept. of Agriculture. Good buddy to GW Bush, goes to the ranch in Crawford from time to time.

I know the Keppy's and Glenn is not Mitch's Grandpa. (Unless we are talking about a different Glenn but I don't think we are.) Myron and Glenn are related but it is more like 2nd cousins. Glenn has three sons Paul, Neal and Chad.

OK...my bad. I know Glenn Keppy, approx 61-62 years old, Durant area, works (Or worked) for dept. of Ag. Glenn was a big man, played O line at Platteville many many years ago. Sorry for the mix up.

I don't know what everyone is worried about, it is common knowledge if you know where to look on the internet, He had offers from Wisconsin, Illinois, Nebraska and Indiana from the Big Ten alone

Rivals said they were interested but none had offered him.

p.s. everyone looks at that site...it's just that information wasn't up until this afternoon.

If it was common knowledge one wouldn't need to look it up on the internet.

One thing to remark upon is that Iowa wouldn't have offered a kid this early in the game if they didn't like what they saw. Furthermore, if Iowa had guys who were much higher up on our recruiting board, the offer they would have extended would have only been a conditional offer. Considering that they received and accepted the committment (without condition), that means that the kid was pretty darn high up on our recruiting board.

Whenever the coaches land kids who are high on their recruiting board ... I get excited!

Great news!

tank - where is it common knowledge that those schools offered? i went to rivals and scout and neither list any other offers than iowa. rivals lists those schools you mention, but no check mark under 'offer'. Just wondering where else you can find this information.

That's why I didn't list the teams at that point. Rivals and Scout hadn't updated the database, it was posted on the payboard by one of the mods. I've caught hell a couple of times in the past for posting specific payboard info so now days I don't post specifics until it's out there for everybody to view.

The other schools that have offered really sounds like super top secret information - LOL!

This is double secret stuff so don't tell anyone where you got it. Read line 7.

Not that it is a big deal, but the article says those other schools were showing "interest" and didn't actually offer a scholarship, Iowa was the first to offer. Either way you have to think if they were showing interest and he didn't commit then they would have offered and with the Zooker and Bilema they still might knowing it wouldn't do any good.

Yeah, i read this article in the DMR today - and I pretty much figured that was going to be the case when I wrote the post you responded to - just funny with all of these guys and their 'top secret' information. Iowa was the only offer he had, and that isn't to say those other schools wouldn't have offered going forward.

Interesting part of the article was Dad was 218 coming out of HS, and son is already 280. I'm guessing mom has some good genetics......
