Missouri eyeing SEC, but wanted Big Ten offer - chicagotribune.com

I was in the Mizzou camp...thought they'd be a natural add for the Big Ten.

Then I was in Columbia a few weeks ago. The football stadium holds more than it appears...but it's not terribly impressive. I know that's not the entire picture, but I just can't see going there for a "BIG TEN" game.

If Mizzu wants an invite they need to approach ND and try and get them to join (not gonna happen and Mizzu has no influence). If they did that They'd be in.

Mizzou would be a great addition to the Big Ten. They are natural rivals with Illinois, Iowa, and Nebraska. They have excellent academics, men's and women's athletics, and they also already have a strong wrestling program, which meshes with the Big Ten, but not the SEC.

You may be right what Women's athletics and wrestling have NOTHING to do with conference re alignment

Swarbrick was out pimping the Big East last night as Notre Dame announced what they were doing in men's hockey when the CCHA folds after this winter's season (they're going to Hockey East, which is an odd choice when all the other schools are all in New England).

Swarbrick wants the Big East to survive. Yet, the single biggest way for the Big East to survive would be if ND joins them for football.

But then, the biggest reason to despise the Big East is for allowing ND to have their cake (non-football sports in the conference) and eat it too (but allowing football independence).

TCU doing a change of heart, joining Big 12.

Possible more raiding of the Big East by the Big 12, UCONN still wants an ACC invite.

Will the Big East really be something ND wants to be a part of as this unfolds?

How stupid is Missouri, if they really want the SEC couldn't of said anything dumber. The SEC doesn't want to be 2nd choice to the big ten to anyone, could see the SEC pulling any invite they were considering to Mizz.

If they would of kept their mouth shut last year until they got the big ten invite they might be in the big ten right now.

I was kinda thinking the same thing. I wonder what SEC officials think of these reports swirling around that Missouri would prefer to be in the Big Ten.
