Missing the start of the Iowa/PSU game

Living in IC, why did I have to miss the beginnig of the game so they could finish that terrible OU/UT game? Why could they not cut away or show the beginning on another channel? God knows, ESPN has enough channels they can use for such a situation.

My husband actually emailed ABC/ESPN and asked them that very question. The response he got back was totally idiotic. Something like (and I'm paraphrasing) . . .

Pre-emptive programming happens in sporting events more than any other type of programming. The Iowa-Penn State football game was pre-empted because the Texas-Oklahoma game was not yet completed . . .

What a total epic fail of a response.

So stupid, luckily those two got their stuff together and just ended the game. It really is moronic, though, that they don't switch to the beginning of the other game in regions where the other game is more relevant. It was a BLOWOUT! What is the logic? It's like them not switching to the Arizona game last year, Helllooooo!!! We're in Iowa F-ing City! Switch to the game! Oh, we're down by 14 points already, thanks ESPN for being so thoughtful.

It's at these times I thank God for WHO and Dolph and Eddy . . .at least I could HEAR what was happening!

This is the exact response we got from ESPN. People were vacating the stadium in droves so why they thought anyone else was interested in the end of this game is mind-boggling :( Besides that, the jerk didn't even answer the question!

"Thank you for contacting ESPN.

Schedule changes happen more often for sports than for any other type of
programming.

In this case, Iowa Vs Penn State was preempted due to our live Oklahoma Vs
Texas coverage running long. We apologize for any inconvenience this
change may have caused.

Sincerely,

Patrick

Thank god someone posted on this crap. The game was a complete blowout and all the Texas fans in the stadium were gone , but we had to watch Texas try their hardest to throw a garbage TD in the last 3 minutes. Then bam cut to Iowa vs Penn State where we converted a third down pass. We almost missed an entire drive of the game.
